How can you shock shaper with such low average damage per hit?

Even though you go full crit, you have to exceed 0.2% of Shaper's maximum life to shock him. I can kill Shaper with ES on, but when I lose all my ES and MoM starts to apply to protect life, due to not being able to shock frequently, mana recovery loses against the damage taken PRETTY QUICK and I die if I don't stop facetanking.

I'd love to have some insight, and great job with the build!

You never shock Shaper with normal hit, only with crits, so you need to check your critical strike multiplier. Go to PoB and in the calcs tab check hit damage for lightning. Then, you need to multiply it by crit multi and compare to 0.2% of Shaper's life. While for almost all the other content it is not crucial, if you want to facetank Shaper, you need to check the spreadsheets in the math section. Otherwise, you play like everyone else - run and wait for the windows to deal damage.

I have also checked your build. There are a few things that will help. Assassin's mark is far inferior to conductivity when it comes to bossing. You also need boot enchant. Add wave of conviction and replace sapphire flask with atziri's. Also add some quality and levels to your gems (check links in PoB). Especially, 21/20 BL will help a lot. Before that, tank everything else but Shaper. The latter will come with time - do not worry.

Someone here was running red maps on level 70-ish, so you are not far from there :P

No, you can build gradually according to the gear progression section. You can start really cheap, and also the final cost of min-maxed build should not exceed 20-30 ex. Of course, in the beginning the build will not be that tanky (still better than most of the other builds), so you should run and avoid like everybody else. You can always buy cheap 6L + Shimmerons for full damage, and you can clear (but not facetank!) the atlas - it is the defense that will come with the currency.

Before I forget to mention it: if you have a spare (green) gem slot, use the Precision aura for a free extra 40% Increased Crit Chance. Total mana reservation is 22 (absolute, not a percentage!) at level 1. You don't need to level it up, even though you can make that 59% Inc. Crit Chance for 186 reserved mana at level 20.

Hey, this is a pretty decent build.. I've been working out a few kinks and optimizing it for where I'm at with it, though. For instance, instead of going into Mind/Blood Drinker and pretty much that whole leg, I'm gonna try to shoot for the Arcane Potency and Purity of Flesh clusters over on the top left.
I tried it out with OP's Pledge version and it shows more dps and maybe a bit more eHP? Not too sure, though.. numbers seem better however.


Anyways, I picked up this watchers eye for 75c, wondering if it's worth dropping Arctic Armour and using Purity of Elements? Or maybe switching Vig Strike over to an alternate weapon and switching every time I use it and run PoE, AA, and Clarity with lvl 4 Enlighten and have about 2800 unreserved mana?

Thanks! Indeed, it works very nicely for almost no cost. I just do not know where to put it. Maybe I should remove increased duration from CWDT+IC? I will check how does it feel.

It's just my laziness as I already had 4L boots and 21/20 flame dash. CWDT is level 20, so flame dash is never triggered. Otherwise (20/20 flame dash), I will make 3L for CWDT and flame dash in unlinked socket.

Thank you for the build ! I still have to upgrade some pieces of my character (still playing on a non optimal 5L) but I'm doing tier 12-13 with no real difficulties and it is a lot of fun.
