[Official] 10-15% of players are in Standard

Still have a dozen or so IIQ support gems luls.

But seriously, shaper/elder based top tier crafted gear is generally better than any legacy items available.

All the *really* OP stuff was nerfed across the board, legacy items included. The legacy items that are left are "nice to have" but don't significantly change how the build plays, things like legacy shav's or Kaoms.

I'd probably play Standard if:

A. It wasnt polluted by players running around with OP unnerfed legacy items. That both ruins the fun for me, and I suspect also twists the economy.
B. If GGG didnt shit on it with stuff like requiring Standard players to have 3-4 map tabs.

GGG's 3 month league cycle is too probably too short for me, and probably for a lot of other players with, yknow, jobs to pay for microtransactions. Its probably too short for GGG as well, considering the level of QA they've been evidencing.

Alas, I really feel like Standard is not a good alternative.

Heh... you mentioned "economy" and "Standard" in the same sentence.

You are right in the fact that your brain sees everything from a relative perspective you will be playing weaker chars than people who are alredy enjoying extremely fun and OP legacy items. Not to even add that mirrors in standard are worth a lot because there is SO MUCH juicy stuff to mirror.

The legacy items in standard probably play less of a roll in power creep than

-Normal power creep in PoE
-Godly good items in standard that dropped long ago and are still being used in standard
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
This number is aroud 50% I suppose after 2 weeks of bad league.
I actually just watched that conference, thx for sharing that m8. Really interesting.

I thought it was quite interesting to see how that statistic was presented.

[B]ut who wants to be reset, that sounds really bad. The way we do it is, we make a new economy and we say you should play the new release in that one and you've still got your old characters. So, we have what's called Standard League where all the characters past economies get moved. You're welcome to play there, maybe 15, 10 percent of players do play there and you've still got all the characters you've ever played in Path of Exile but the exciting place, where the, you know, economy isn't trashed with all the old items is the new league.

Apparently, the economy is the only thing that matters.

The big numbers is what matters indeed, that means the standard guys are left behind and economy is what matters.

The legacy item policy isn't about "not wanting to make people upset with nerfs" like some here say, but done because adjusting billions of existing items would be expensive. "Mechanical" mod changes like "Atziris Acuity no longer makes Energy Shield Leech instant" or the cooldowns of trigger items can be changed once in the code of the game. Capping all legacy Loreweaves at 78% or reducing the critmulti of existing Abyssuses would require changing them individually because there is no code only that mod uses. Which I'm sure wouldn't be a problem if it was just two items, but with 1000s of balance changes and the number of items in standard never exactly going down it would certainly add up.

Of course by now they had the policy for so long that even if the decided to spend all that money and shut the game down for a week just for the sake of standard players... there would be *additional* outrage from people who relied on that policy for many years. Additional to the outrage about the shutdown that is.
