That's totally why I'm likely done with poe. I don't have any control over anything except via trade. The rest of the entire game is punishment for not trading. Period. Hardcore and SSF and challenges and the leader boards, it's all just trade measures.

Darkness is static. Darkness can be controlled 100% of the time through darkness resistance, light radius and flares. You can't do jack shit about decay. Honestly comparing darkness to decay is worse than apples to oranges. It's more like comparing apples to shoes, makes just about as much sense.

You can see what "path" the game wants you to follow and that is the only garanteed safe way to go. the issue i mentioned is that someimes following that path dont give you time to get to some of the 3 way stabelizers in time.

Last example was with a two way node (but it happens on all). There is only one possible destination since it's a two way node and you start from one end and have to run to the other. So I run in a straight line as fast as possible since I don't care about the node, I wanted to reach the reward node it was connected to. Quicksilver flask, movement speed boots, all that stuff, should be fast enough. And by the time I arrive near the stabilizer... the stabilizer is covered in half a screen of decay thus making it unreachable. So basically from the moment I started the node, the decay seems to have started from the opposite side from the destination I am supposed to run to thus making this node impossible to reach since the stabilizer is covered in decay from the very beginning. This shit happened to me at least few dozen times this weekend and made me waste absurd amount of time to gather new fragments, to connect again, to run several times to a single reward node... Seems that a node can start decaying from wherever it wants, even from the stabilizers. I'll ask once again - did anyone tested this, did no one saw this could happen?


These "small" issues are obviously either bugs or just no one bothered testing what is simply bad mechanics. Most of it is out of your control. And this is not some isolated case, all of these issues I listed have been reported by countless other players. So spare me the smug high horse and the inevitable incoming cliche "league is fine you just need to gid gud". Decay is demonstrably shit mechanics with numerous bugs, brutal RNG which is completely out of your control (unlike darkness which is 100% under your control) and it's in fact so hilariously bad that it even makes nodes sometimes impossible to complete because no one bothered checking that it can devour stabilizers from the moment you activate a node and that it can block the only possible path of indoor nodes with dead ends due to the layout. Which may or may not explain the reason why nearly ~65% of the 111k players in the last 4 weeks have dropped entirely from the league according to Steam charts. Dunno, maybe there's something wrong with this league that so many gave up in mere 3 weeks.

I just remove file and check cohesion of files through steam. My file was so big, had I think 3-4 GB more than my friends.

I need to state, that I have game installed on SSD, but steam client is on normal HDD. I play on updated win 10 with graphics:
- disabled vsync (I think, that cause my fps drop to 30 sometimes)
- disabled antialiasing
- enabled lightining and shadows
- low sun shadow and lights
- enabled postprocessing (I think it adds about 20 fps for me - stable 75-80)
- high water, textures with trilinear filtering
- no dynamic resolution
- enabled multithreading
- windowed full screen mode

Asus laptop with geforce gtx 1060 and 16gb ram and intel core i7-7700HQ. I'm using 64 bit client on steam. I just sometimes get dc cause of steam. Very rarely cause of game lag (mostly restart from my adsl at night). And to add to that I am using laptop and 2 extra monitors while I'm playing.

Far from pointless its the Core mechanic and flavor of the league it not something you can just remove.

I play regulary and do every memory and use the Nexus all the time,
and its trange that some seem to be bug magnets that makes the league unplayable for them while i have almost no issue(after the nexus rework), so i can only reason that they likely are missing some piece of the pussel

Your problem with the edges of the decay could be desync related, nothing you can realy do if thats the case but its one possible reason other then "its broken"


Also just because its a Straight ahead piece dont mean that the decay free path is straigt ahead it can follow the edges of the map quite often, so its not supricing that you sometimes find yourself at a wall of decay blocking you way to the exit points if you just run forward, cause the smal path could be from one of the side out of you sight when you reach "the wall",


Its imposible to prove ither way, so ither some are extreamly unlucky or there is some other issue that causes the problem with decay for some but not others,

i only know from my own and my guild mates experience and none have had the extream issues some are posting here and on reddit so i can only assume that they are simply missing something but without screenshots or videos its hard to take your words for it when its so far from my personal experience playing the leage alot.



PS i cant force you to play the league if you dont like it, im just trying to understand how your experience can be so differnt, it cant be that the league is completly busted cause then everyone should have the same issues and they clearly dont.

It's not. I have constant 45-50 ms flatline, no lag spikes, no freezes. This is mechanics issue. As I said sometimes you can get stuck for seconds and get out, sometimes barely pass near decay and get booted out. Network issues are completely different story.

Yes, and the decay mechanic should account for that. If the layout has the possibility to create dead ends and the only possible way to be closed by decay - this SHOULD NOT HAPPEN since it renders the node IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE BY DESIGN. AKA "BROKEN MECHANICS".

Also you do realize that decay can start from the OPPOSITE stabilizer thus making the node IMPOSSIBLE to complete, right?

Really? Then I suppose that currently the 21k people who are still playing barely 3 weeks in the league compared to 111,000 in the beginning is just because suddenly 80% of the player base got bored? Gee, I wonder if this league is completely busted or that "we just don't get it and we're missing something and something-something puzzle".

Yea, I can understand fanboism. Believe me, I am one, this is why I am so critical of the current situation. But there is a limit even to fanboism and I have reached mine.

the timing was random. I can hate a league and like the game, they are not mutually exclusive.
im a fan of a fresh start to a league but the Synthesis content is neither fun or rewarding. maybe go-kart racing would be fun
Man i hope this shit won't make it into the game as a abse mechanism. Boring clunky unintuitive unreasonably convoluted and another crafting league was teh very very LAST thing we needed. I know it won1t be cutshort I just hope I won't have to see it again. It has no place whatsoever while we have delve. Same but worse in everything.

Oh look, the fanbois are out in force today. There is no excuse for there being bugs and lags and crashes in ANY game, no matter if its free or not. And also it can be argued to play this game with any sort of efficiency, you must spend real $$$ on currency tabs and stash space.

regarding tabs:
the game started with purchaseable tabs and wouldn't exist in the current form without them.

all free games have components that nudge players into supporting them.
