The craft still works. I've crafted 3 of those but it hasn't taken me 5 attempts as CoE says. More like 15 for each.

I'm on...well, not sure anymore. Maybe 15 essence craft attempts, and then close to 10 fossil attempts (finding corroded fossils blows, and they are rarer than an ex to drop inside heists it seems). No luck thus far.

It does counter balance for me at least though. I had a high ilvl short bow early on I found in SSF-SCH that I just did alteration-aug-regal spam and managed to get +3 skills upon regaling a +2skill (and trashy stun duration suffix) on the second attempt. Decided to go full idiot and mindlessly slam two exalts, and the second one got me t1 AS with room to craft chaos dot multi.

The downside is that the bow is not 6linked, so I'm stuck using:

until I can 6L. At least getting the level 4 empower on first attempt helps a ton.

Why do people use conc.effect as the 6th Link? Even on poeninja the highest dps guys are all using it.

I did a bit of research and many say its bad - anyone?

Because it's how poeninja counts the dps...

1. The pod overlap is not counted. So anything that increases / decreases pod overlap is not counted. Even though it actually affects you real dps. Conc effect downside is conveniently discarded, while in reality it makes you hit the enemy with fewer pods.

2. Mirage archer is not counted. It's literally treated as 0 dps support. I'm pretty sure you can figure out why this is bullshit. In reality, it's ~28% more damage support not 0.

3. Conditional supports are usually counted as always applying even if in reality their uptime wouldn't be 100%. This includes energy leech and damage on full life.

The guide talks about getting 100% ailment immunity, but even with the small cluster jewel I only seem to have 50%? Any easy way to achieve the recommended 100%?

After 21 attempts, I finally got an usable bow. Lucky me.

In addition to the Thick Skin nde cluster and the Elegant Form small cluster jewel, you will need to bench-craft "25% chance to Avoid Elemental Ailments" onto two pieces of armor to achieve 100%. I chose gloves and boots for myself, but you can also craft onto a rare helm or body armor.
