POE loot vs Diablo 2 loot
" this. and yes more uniques will be added, the ones currently in the game are just there for flavor really. Haven't heard anything about set items though, and although I enjoyed set items, a lot of people seem to dislike the idea. "the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

I know what you mean OP. Don't get me wrong PoE has some nice loot so far, BUT it could still be better. Nothing has topped Diablo II for me.
I think what they need to do is: - add selling/salvaging - add another item type like sets - have tiered items (Normal unique, exceptional unique, elite unique) - Lessen the amount of skill gem slots (this is something I am thinking of, but not sure) - make sure unique items look different from their normal look (they might already i dont know) There are so many things that could be done to tweak the system and make it better. That said, they do have some very nice ideas right now and its a solid system, but nothing has topped D2. |

" Agreed, and as for set items, if they add them in, they need to be better than Diablo 2's :P. |

It is possible to get +200% on things, but you haven't been playing nearly long enough to see one... in the whole community :P

" This, I think what youve seen so far in PoE is almost like comparing D2 Normal loot with a new untwinked character and D2 Hell loot with a 600% MF character... In defense of rare items being most sought after: how about finding some rare templar boots with 200% Armor, 200% Energy Shield, 100% Item Quantity, 80% Item Rarity, 30% Run Speed and 20% Elemental resistances? And then knowing that it is the ONLY ITEM OF THE KIND in the whole game (a TRUE unique...unlike uniques in D2)? This is pure speculation but I wouldn't be surpised something like that is possible. If that wouldn't get you excited, then D2 never even got close to it ^,^ Btw I have just one thing I'd like to see in game that I haven't seen/heared so far. That is some way of upgrading (another orb would fit just fine, but it would have to be extremely rare indeed) the base item type. So that lower level finds with unbelievable stats could be made more useful. It wouldn't be really overpowered because the lower level items also have a lower item level, capping the stats on them, but still there could be some really really awesome finds, that would become useless because of the low base stats on the item. D2 had this - you could upgrade the item tier, I'm sure its possible to implement even without tiers by upgrading the item type instead. |

For all of you that HAVEN'T found any rare items, party up I play as a witch named "Cybrim" (OMG it's F*CKING convenient) I'd be happy to share some rares and some adventure, by the way use your wisdom scrolls to find quantity and rare find items... yeah they are "currency" but I've been using them and I have had absolutely NO trouble finding anything! Sure it takes a while to find stuff and I've only found 1 orange (Rest the original Cybrim Witch's soul... had to delete her so I could play a Cybrim Witch in hardcore) Dang I really like the rare and unique item levels.
I love virtual brutality so save it for the Mobs...

Here is my PoV:
I like it how you dont need to worry about dropped items, or gold, or selling. ITS AWESOME. Keep it that way. We do need more Set\Uniques in the game, though. Good uniques do NOT need to be end-all best in the game. Let Rares have the ability to be the best in the game, JUST LIKE DIABLO2 CLASSIC, when it was most addictive. Uniques should have a "weird", unique either skill combination, that is powerful ofcourse, but not more powerful than what u could get with very lucky Rare, remember! Also, good uniques have some creativity in their unique stats. Takes long to think of them and it's kinda wasted ideas (to think of an attribute special to that unique only, for example), but it's worth it!!! " My thoughts EXACTLY. |

I think there is too less items that could possibly be useful.
95% of the items are white, 4,9% are blue, 0,1% is rare, its a bit low. Fun in ARPGs is not just gameplay, it's mostly cuz of loot. Your brain needs something enjoyable to do while playing, and that's why constant possibly nice loot items are required. If you play PoE, you don't find useful stuff at all in the early game. You upgrade your equipment from one white to the next tier white item, which is ok, but not nearly as enjoyable as having choice between this rare/magic and this new magic/rare. I think it's a problem in the early game, because you don't want to use your orbs yet (because these items are worthless after you used them for 4-5 level and the orb is gone.) and you don't have any magicfind/more loot find yet. I saw in the patchlogs that the droprate was lowered, i can't understand that at all. A possible solution would be to enhance the default magic find rate significantly. To avoid most powerful items to spawn to often there is an easy fix: The best stat modifiers (like %enhanced damage) can be rolled up to 2x per item, so that you need incredible luck to get 2x the desired stat (%enhanced damage) with both as high as possible added up on one item. |
