What is the Point of Playing Leagues When So Much of our Progress Is Reset on Standard?

I am in the same boat as you, inorder to salvage my POE game time I started a new POE goal for myself. Not that anybody cares ;-)

Standard rules.

1. At the end of a league make sure you have a single high level map so if the atlas is reset you can run it and get all the maps bonus back.

2. Create characters for each ascendancy to gradually level up inorder to take advantage of the skill resets we usually get at league end.

3. Level up damage skills and supports in the swap weapons to use eventually with max level characters from 2

4. If you have current series maps for the daily masters run them, if not run some of the old series to get the maps drops out of them.

5. Try the new leagues for a bit and see how much they suck, if not too much then focus on them.

I used to play both, but it would take at least 48 hours to clean up my stash in standard. Maybe this summer I'll do it.

I've played PoE for 4+ years,have become increasingly disappointed with the
power creep and the gating of features,I.E:Masters on Atlas,Gating delves to sulphite,the Lab,crafting recipes,etc..

I bailed on Betrayal,first league ever I didn't finish,went to standard and really enjoyed *not* getting one shot by the Syndicate.Now with Synthesis,it feels very similar,I want to play an RPG not a puzzle game!
So again in standard,I'm having a blast regearing old characters with loot from past leagues,and trying many new builds,without the bugginess of the last couple of leagues.
Standard should be the permanent game,not the forgotten stepchild! Stop the
resets on progress,keep the map bonuses,stop resetting masters progress,and for the love of all that's holy stop the 3x1 map vendoring!

You can still play old
league mechanics,they're just toned down and FAR less buggy than when in their original forms!

Standard is a landfill into which Leagues are dumped. Been like that forever. I don't see it changing anytime soon. Or ever.

Well you sure havent seen it on Standard after Bestiary ended, so you did not get even those leftovers for a long time lol.

It's funny how these topics are always abused by league players to show off how much they DON'T care about Standard.

They actually take the time to post something highly unhelpful about "landfill" or "garbage" league, just to gloat over Standard player's problems. The internet.... it's scary sometimes, isn't it?

That's nice that some people like beta-testing content in leagues. I don't begrudge them that. Go enjoy. But don't get in my way when I am trying to make an argument for Standard not being used as a Dumpster. My money is just as relevant as anyone else's thousands of dollars in the final equation.

PS: I am logged on right now if any of you elite league-only players want to give me their money and good gear on standard. I will give it a loving home.
