Same Problems here too.
Telekom is germanys biggest and best ISP, no joke.It is a premium ISP and i pay for it, not with a smile in my Face, but i do it. coz all other Inet things run very very good.
The real Joke is that GGG tell us and wants us to make believe, that the problem is somewhere else than on their side.
r u fukking kidding me/us?
i am so tiered of this. i wont spent a single cent in this Game if u dont make it run at least so good, that its NOT a pain to play it -.-
The funny thing is, sometimes the game runs very well and smooth. and sometimes not.
it is NOT predictable.
u do LabRun and are out in the next second.
u have Bossfight and freeze for 1-5sec...
thx for this great game!! but go to "gamers hell" with this bad servers coz i believe, they are a big part of the problem

Found an intersting article written in a "non-tech" language (german language only, but i assume many people in this thread can read/understand german) which highlights the issue here, especially in the afternoon/evening, when everybody starts watching Netflix / Prime and co.

In a recent post i already mentioned that and send a tracerote from my PC at home (Telekom DSL) to one of the game servers i had massive lags.
It was:
Note: Both the AS3320 (DTAG) and the AS3257 (GTT) are Tier 1 providers, meaning they are not interested in providing a "good" transit traffic for you as end consumer, because the want others (in that case AS46562, TOTAL-Server-Solutions) to pay for extra peering with them. Seems AS46562 has no direct peering with DTAG.
When i use a VPN to my server located in Dusseldorf (i´m located near munich) i get the following trace to the same server, where i was totally able to play without lags using my VPn:
Both AS29141 (BKVG-AS, which is the network of my Hosting provider for my server) and the AS46562 (TOTAL-Server-Solutions, where the Game servers of GGG are located in this particular case) seem to be a customer with a direct peering with AS174 (Cogent) and therefore get a more or less "guaranteed" service level in terms of latency/packet loss. There is no other Tier1 (Transit only) provider involved who transmits traffic in a best effort manner, calculating with oversubscriptions.
As i can see a lot of other threads as well mentioning that there are latency peaks during peak hours with special ISPs even in other regions- i assume this can only be solved if the hosting providers of the GGG servers buy additional peerings with other providers who are not willing to change anything on their own (aka DTAG in this case).
Edit:
Found another article about that "DTAG" issue (also from 2015, but the political/financial game playing should not have changed...)
https://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Netzneutralitaet-Init7-wehrt-sich-gegen-Kritik-der-Deutschen-Telekom-2591600.html
Very strange that nobody that is having this problem is looking or commenting or your post. I find it very relevent.
Sure that GGG have server problems in Legion (not so much in standard) but many of the problems also has to be this ISP tiring problem.

Also jumping here to say I've had to quit for today. Managed to get about 30 mins in before getting a 5 second freeze on hardcore. It's no fun.
I've tried using London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan and had the same issue on all gateways.
For reference this is the first league I've had this issue. All other games work perfectly fine.
WinMTR shows no issues.

I already quit and check the forum from time to time if something changed.
To all people: get a VPN or get over it. Best way would be cancel your DTAG subscription!
The described issue has been around for so long and gets worse because people do use more and more capacity (HD streams etc.). Players get fucked because we can not buffer, instead we need real time traffic.
As far as my understanding goes the main cause in this artificially generated issue is that the traffic has only one option to reach you as enduser.
This way is through your ISP and his interconnection points (=forced narrow point of intersection because of the power of DTAG) to the the "internet-backbone". There is no other way and the ISP (here DTAG) controls this. DTAG has a very restrictive policy regarding these points. DTAG is kind of monopolizing his end customers (even if you pay for high speed internet and whatever). Not upgrading these interconnection capacity can be wanted to create double paid traffic - someone has to pay an extra amount so that his data gets prioritized during the peak times.
So all who blame GGG: they could perhaps pay a huge amount to DTAG for this but the problem creator is DTAG and this despite you pay your monthly fee for high speed internet. So contact them in order to ask why dont they provide you the agreed performance. Even if you get a person with a clue on the line they will just tell you that they are aware and working on it. This problem is known but they dont give a **** about you even you do pay them money for their service because they can make even more profit if they sell this bottlenecks to the most bidding company.

The Video DE3me postet describes the whole mess from DTAG, so give it a shot to understand what is the cause. I can highly recommend it.

It's been brought to my attention that there have been a lot of new threads created relating the connectivity issues experienced by Deutsche Telekom users connecting to European Path of Exile gateways.
If you are a Deutsche Telekom user, and have been experiencing higher than usual latency and more frequent disconnects, especially during peak times, it's likely that this problem is causing your issues.
What is causing the issue?
There is currently an issue affecting one of Deutsche Telekom's routers (62.157.249.78). There is increased latency and packet loss to this router/hop, which get worse during peak times, indicating over congestion.
Is it something we can fix?
While we are aware of the issue, and are seeking information and some sort of solution, the problem is outside of our, and our providers direct control.
What you can do to help:
Follow the instructions from this guide
Forward the WinMTR trace through as part of a support request to your ISP
Hopefully if they have enough customers raising this issue, they may be motivated to do something about it.
This was in 2015!!! And nothing has changed since then. Bad luck is you are just now also affected by this problem.

I have 1&1 as provider since 15 years know, never had any lag issues! I`m playing POE for 2 years now, and never had any lag spike issues till the start of 3.7!
And GGG really wants to tell me that this is a provider issue???? Really??
What I`m fucked up most is, that it seems that GGG isn`t giving a fuck on this problem!
Thats really sad!

No, not 2015 as it is still currently happening and the hop is still giving problems, stop trying to place blame one someone else so you don't have to do anything other than type angrily...it doesn't help you, it doesn't help GGG and it will not get your ISP to sort their shit out.

I use 1&1 estimated since 8 years now and had no recognizeable problems either.
It also startet with Patch 3.7 for me. If there was a change in the general routing on any side I dont know.
But since my problems get solved with a VPN I believe it hints to a peering issue, since every VPN somehow connects with GGGs servers ultimately. I dont deny that there can occur server lags on GGGs side however.
Also that there are some instances which are fine can also be reasoned with the DTAG peering. You literally just were lucky enough to get routed into the limited data highway and dont get stalled at an interconnection point which causes your package loss.
This peering problem described earlier doesnt hit only PoE.
E.g. there are also players in PUBG who have issues due to this. Even sites like the guardian, reddit or imgur can be affected during prime time. The Telekom Support Forum is full of matters like this...
I remember youtube had big issues also a long time ago but it seems google paid their share.
This forum (sorry its German) shows an example how reddit had massive package loss via DTAG and in April/May this year apparently DTAG changed the routing/upgraded capacity/fastly (reddit) also paid extra and the customers had no problem after that.
As already stated from GGG it is out of their direct control and I believe them looking at the facts.
In the end this problem really exists and I am certain it is the root for most people of this thread.

imagine you drive to your grandma by car for years and suddenly they blocked the road and you have to drive around the traffic jam!
this is really your grandma's problem because it's surely her causing this.
is this simple enough to make you understand how the internet works? hint: it's the "thing" between "your internet" and ggg servers which doesn't belong to either one.
