no uber hillock spawn since 18h nonstop grinding

Same old RNGesus. GGG always says "working as intended". I guess this includes "...intended to piss you off". Pretty much the norm nowadays. Whether it's not finding Niko often enough to do much delving or having a 4 Oni farmer rotation nearing level 8 and not once has uber Hillock come out to play, the wild swings/ranges of rng in PoE is so often a bitch to have to deal with. You either tough it out and keep grinding into level 8 (and mutter "SOB devs" to which the devs will chuckle... and then you swear not to buy any more mtx ever... for awhile anyway) or quit and farm enough currency to buy one (now much more expensive after Mathil posted his build that uses an Oni).

But make no mistake Charan's Sword is nice:

It is the only guaranteed way to farm a starter 6L. After having farmed 4 swords in Incursion League and 2 exiles hit level 9 (ya, my "I will not let the Wooki win" determination to grind them out got the better of me) I burned out on the grind (pain) and I have only 1 at level 7.25 in Betrayal:

I always start calling out for Ubbie Hillock to come and play with me on the beach after getting to level 7 and he decided to do so at 25% which was very rng nice and typical. In other challenge leagues on a 3 or 4 farmer rotation I usually get my first uber Hillock in the 20% range of level 7 and then nothing on the other farmers until > 70%. After that it is level 8 and beyond. I created The Twilight Strand Level 9 Beach Club for the unfortunate exiles that can't get Ubie to come out and play and keep going into level 9:

Looking back on this now I realize I'm fuck'in crazy to have done this but once in my aspi grind state of mind I just keep going. PoE insanity of the highest magnitude for sure (guess I'm ready to check into PoorJoy's Asylum).

I also created the TSL9BC to commiserate with other unfortunate exiles (poor slobs) and get drunk because damn RNGesus was against me and I had to grind into level 9. That and any exile that does get into the Level 9 club is automatically recruited to help clear the beach of the now ALL dead zombies (the beach club supplies the hasmat suits. Oh man, decaying flesh is so putrid!):

Anyway, don't give up and have fun on the beach... err... what the hell? Only reason I can sustain grinding is that I'm aspi and the repetition of the beach runs and zombie kills is actually comforting to a degree for me. But a level 9 exile is still grind torture no matter how your brain is wired.

Best wishes to all on your Oni-Goroshi grind quest.  :)

Doesn't it make more sense to buy Tabula for 10cs than lvl up your char and once you hit maps use 5cs Nebuloch to farm currency you need to buy that weapon/chest etc?

Another thing is, Mathil using Oni build (or any other for that matter) is not same as regular player using it. ~5.7k hp +abyssus lol

Of course farming the currency needed to buy an Oni is definitely more time effective. Farming Oni is not about the time factor verses the monetary value of this sword. It's just a specific mindset that farming one means more than buying one. Like, "you farmed an Oni! I would never have the patience to do that." It's more like gaining something of value through hard work than if it's just bought because you are wealthy. Only a small % of players will take the time to do it so that puts us in a special group of devoted farmers. Same as Incursion League when I took the time to run Blood Aqueduct enough to get the 9 Humility cards for a Tabula Rasa. I could easily buy one but farmed the cards. It was good in Incursion as I could also get many temple runs fast by running this zone.

So even if the Mathil Oni build has driven up the price it's never about the time/cost effectiveness of farming. It's being able to state to all "hey, I toughed it out mentally and farmed one."

I knew you would get it eventually, it is one of the greatest tests of patience in PoE, imho.
~ I have selective hearing, and today, you have not been selected.
Uber Hillock is busy one-shotting lvl 90+ players as part of the syndicate. He's asked his cousin, non-uber Pillock, to sub for him in Act 1 for the meantime. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Stay stupid.
Now go farm one with a decent crit roll.

I guess I'm one of those devoted farmers who spent whole hour and half farming for it. lol I feel so proud. Used it for my league starter build. Bought 2nd one when I got enough currency. Anyhow It just didn't make sense to me doing that grind mid league but than again I get it if people find that grind fun and worthwhile then they should do it.

GZ!

Threads like this make me realise that while I sometimes consider it, I'm not ready to farm Oni, though it's nice to know if I did I could get support for the torment on the forum.

Arrowneus I've long thought that your Beach Club sounds like fun.

But maybe it'd be worth doing to get lucky, and give up if not. Like fusings. Spend that 50 just in case (and it works sometimes).

Ah, RNG. Sunk cost. To dance, or not?
