Reflecting on Past Releases Part 1

I can remember back to the first one.

Thanks GGG for that great game!
Love this game, love GGG
Merry Christmas~ keep good things up!
I remember that the thing that attracted me the most to Path of Exile was when I saw the segment from the second video clip between 00:34 and 00:40 where they show a witch using the fireball spell and then they show you what it looks like when you attach different support gems to it like totem, chain and multiple projectiles.
I like sandbox games and I thought that this was going to be one of them, but it didn't really turn out the way I thought it would. I expected that the skill gems would be simple and support gems would be complicated, but it was actually the other way around. But that's ok, I guess, because otherwise it would be very difficult to balance and also if you could use support gems to make one skill very similar to another, then there wouldn't be need to have both of them.

I played the game since the open beta, if I remember correctly, but I didn't play a lot. The game felt kind of boring because the only difference between the classes was the starting point on the skill tree.
I felt like the game became really worth playing when the Ascendancy classes came out. That's when you could choose between 19 classes and it was really fun.

Path of Exile is really the biggest free to play game out there, and unlike a lot of other games which claim to be free to play but they are not, PoE really is a free to play game. Until you get to maps anyway, and even then the amount of money you need to spend to purchase a few stash tabs is less that what a new game would cost. The cosmetic items in the game are more expensive than in other games I know of, and they are not as good looking as those in other games, but it's definitely worth it to support the developers who are working on such a great project. So, really, congratulations to the devs for being able to pull this off. I'm also glad that they managed to get a partnership with Tencent that suits them, so they don't have to rely on donations alone. Just maintaining a sufficient amount of servers for a free to play game while relying only on support from donors was a very brave and risky move.
GGG is also one of the rare companies that actually reads the forum posts and answers concerns and complaints.

It's also worth mentioning that Path of Exile would have never have made it without all the help from outside content creators like streamers and creators of things like the trading website, and various tools for use in and out of the game, skill tree calculators and planners, macros, various lists and other.

Other major improvements from my point of view were adding the ability to see prefixes and suffixes in the game, improving the overlay map, adding the option to attack without moving, adding solo self-found, adding new acts and removing replaying the game on multiple difficulties, removing grinding Forsaken Master levels and removing stat-sticks.

I like RPG games and I'm the kind of person who likes lore in games and I think the story in PoE is really good. Also, the music and voice acting are amazing.

That's all I can think of for now. :) Good luck and have fun.
We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.
Here since CB :) Awesome game, too bad i cant support you as much as i would like to :(
Feral
Nice writeup. I still remember when I played in the beta. Max level was 35 and many mobs in act 2 still had placeholder names. As a huge D2 fan, I instantly fell in love with PoE and have since, spent an insane amount of time in this game :) Well spent though.
i play since the open beta and i hav supported your team all time i an do . BEST GAME ever ty GGG for all that pleasure!!!!!!!!!!!!!
closed beta supporter, still here.

I miss 2 things from the old days and I think both were better then current versions:
1 Old character screen
2 Scion has a dialogue for each zone

rest is going right direction!

Parties running up and down the Ledge to level 10-12
There were ALWAYS Ledge parties, usually more than one

Fellshrine parties - never could figure out what that was about

Dominus loot explosions
Rain in Upper Sceptre that caused 0.0001 frames per second

The Cove ( I miss the Cove )

Larger Brutus and Merveil arenas with walls to hide behind

The Blackwood forest maze

Two levels of Vaal Ruins - both small and far easier to navigate than current Ruins

Slum Sewer, Warehouse Sewer, Market Sewer ( it's so much better now )

+2 to max ele res by Marauder
+1 to max ele res by Templar
