[3.5] Winter Orb CwC Ice Spear | MoM | Elementalist | Leaguestarter

i run Herald of Ice and Haste since it's nice to have high movespeed/clear speed and the extra cast speeds helps to get to max stages fast

I can't afford a 6L Eclipse with PCoC yet, so I've just been leveling with Tabula + dual Divinarius (84 atm). The playstyle is actually really, really nice having come from dual-wield BV, but I'm missing out on Power Charges obviously unless I swap the CoH/Warlord's for e.g., Assassin's Mark.

Thoughts on dual wielding with this build and doing just that?

Try this set up on your Tabula: Winter Orb+CWC+Ice Spear+Control Destruction+GMP+Power Charge on Crit. It will help you with Power charge sustain until you could afford a 6-link Eclipse with PCoC.

I'm using exactly setup with Tabula + dual Divinarius, quite satisfied with this build atm, clear speed is just super cool, bosses are a joke except these annoying Syndycate members, get one-shot by them many times.

Terrific idea, hadn't thought of adding it to my Tabula. Thank you.

EDIT: This worked beautifully. I'm going to aim for the PCoC staff, but the dual Divinarius is really nice for that AoE boost. Tempted to pick up the Blast Radius cluster for low mapping, as I did with BV.

Glad to hear it worked for you :), it's keep power charge up all the time, so we could enjoy the shatter sound of HoI :D

Is there a reason why we aren't using Herald of Thunder? We have free gem slots in our helm and can just use Ice/Thunder with onslaught?

I'm running Herald of Ice + Onslaught + Enhance + Enlighten in my helm.

Its a MOM build you gonna take up my unreserved mana that way.

I think I'll live without 57 extra unreserved mana to gain extra cold damage on Herald of Ice from Enhance. 1196 is more than enough unreserved.

You do you I guess.

and the thunder?
Hey peeps.. why hypothermia over ice bite? Is it for the more damage when bossing?

I'm at the point where I can ditch added cold and ice bite seemed better at the moment. Trash dies super fast anyway so I'm not seeing the benefit to hypothermia other than bossing.

thanks

Can't speak to the viability of it long-term, but I'm running a tabula w/ PCoC in place of Hypothermia, and Ice Bite is linked to Herald (HoI + Ice Bite + Onslaught + Cold Pen). Your idea seems fine.
IGN: Zergtrap
Can't decide between crafting +28 Crit multi or +48 Crit multi while a unique or rare enemy is nearby on my staff. It seems like "nearby" runs out a short distance after the second form of ice spear begins.

Since it's a multimod the craft is gonna be more or less irreversible for some time. Having serious issues deciding between the two. +20 Multi is a big dps increase but i wonder if it's worth losing the reliable dps you'll have when you can't be close.

Any opinions on this?
Hypothermia is a MORE modifier, which is the biggest difference. It's a massive damage boost to everything, since your Winter Orb & ascendancy perks chill everything for you.

Uber Elder down deathless.

I run Elder Glacier maps, with sextants and scarabs, and clear the map in usually less than two minutes. Seriously can't recommend this build enough. The only downside is that to get the full value out of the build, you need a really good staff.

I notice your WO version going north to the cold nodes, it looks interesting. I play HC so I need MoM but I am wondering map clear wise how much slower would it be if I went phase as well?

What are your thoughts on non-crit versions of this build? I am also using shield charge with FC/fort as another defensive layer also I find a gameplay smoothness when I can just hold down right click and only override casting for constant shield charging. So I can't go the staff I think for HC. Would you play this HC? At the moment it's feeling like arc but with the constant channeling management.

Lastly, occultist for this build do you think is close/better for something like HC mapping.

How is the clearspeed/strength of this build compared to something like Zizaran's or the version on these forums which uses 2x Void Battery?
