Skill Rework - Arctic Breath

one of the many useless skills in the game. let's hope GGG put some decent thoughts into it.

give us twice the area of effect and i may troll for a bit with this ineffective skill. all the cold reworks are either not good or locked behind silly combos with frostball. the only way to go cold is totems

The only thing about this announcement I didn't love was that the new cold focused ascendancy nodes are going to be Occultist and not Elementalist.

That seems to be an odd decision, but if implemented well I might make an Occultist and not feel obligated to use chaos and curses...but that seems like an even worse decision.

I mean you recently nerfed the node that gave better chills with Elementalist as it is so it seems in line with making the ascendancy focused on cold, shock, and fire into some kind of broken mishmash of leftover ideas that didn't work for Necromancer, Occultist, or Inquisitor with golems sprinkled on top.

I think I might try out storm burst cwc actic breath for funsies though.

I played D3 for the first time on Switch recently, and while fun, the build options at high GRs are abysmal. I have a DMO twister Wizard and it has become boring as hell to grind the last few hundred paragon levels to clear gr69 and 70 before I can move on to another class.

For all their similarities and differences the one difference I like about PoE the most after playing D3 is that there are no Rare mobs with mods like vortex, wormhole, etc. that just yank you around randomly and unavoidably, often into the equivalent of bearer bombs that one shot you.

I do like the glyph system for skills in D3 a lot though. Such simple and painless skill swapping is refreshing compared to grinding up a dozen gems and rolling sockets etc. on every piece of gear, but both systems have their quirks.

I like that a witch can use pretty much any skill in the game instead of being stuck with the same dozen or so forever. On wizard I pretty much spam slow time, magic missile, and energy twister then rebuff arctic armor, weapon buff, and familiar every few min.

Sire of Shards isn't exactly rare / expensive? Easily farmed by running Temple; Lunaris priestes cards are frequent drops there.

The demo in that video looks really bad though. I sure hope noboby will actually play with it like that.


So it's supposed to be a DoT-like ice themed skill now. I guess you could totem it with rain of Shards and Multi and extra area and GMP for a massive screen covering DoT / freeze build. Yeah, nope, I don't think it'll be worthwhile.
