Open Beta should start somewhere around December I should think.

I guess most are fearing the devs will stop giving closed beta invites and will shut out until open beta which looks like several months from now.

Closed beta invitations will be given out continuously all the way until open beta begins. Feedback from people that are completely new to the game and playing it for the first time is some of the most important feedback. So if you haven't gotten a key yet don't worry. Only a very small portion of the closed beta keys have been given out so far.
Open beta will allow everyone with an account to play the full (uncompleted) game. You can expect sometime around the end of the year or very early next year depending on how well things go in the closed beta in terms of adding necessary functionality. Forum Sheriff
