Streamers, something I still don't understand.
Can't believe someone really spend his time watching someone else playing a videogame... probably too old for that.
Any different from watching someone else play sports? Or watching someone pretend to be funny while pretending to be a nerd ? (big bang theory) fundamentally TV is just as contrived as watching a streamer either the content entertains you or it doesn't but thats all its there for like everything else.
If you get TV like here in the UK i'd rather suck mathils dick on stream than watch love island, better 20 seconds of pain than an entire series of torment.

Gifting people you enjoy watching do something... fine you want to show your appreciation.
"Gifting" people or shamelessly tossing things at them in hopes of grabbing their attention for just a moment - a growing issue in our society.
In other words, a desperation for a fleeting moment of fame that has no substance.
Looking how social media has evolved, it's clear that people are having a harder and harder time telling fiction from reality.
Even streamers fall into that category, and their viewers are definitely no exception.
As you've pointed out, I don't have to wear the RoW tag. ;)
While I don't disagree with any of that, it really doesn't pertain to the issue at hand, being the seeming burden on the devs to address streamers quote abusing unquote this hunger for fleeting prominence.
Given how the thread began, I'd still think its relevant if not for any other reason that someone can cover RMT just by playing the fanboi.
Even sports organizations end up holding some responsibility for their players and with a large enough "infraction" will terminate contract and all that jazz.
Streamers may enjoy more leeway but there is still a line that can be crossed where they do more harm than good for the product.
Yep, totally over league play.

You must be good if 20 seconds is all it'll take.

Hey I'm not judging, tastes are tastes.
But still it's not the same thing as watching sports for me... there can be many reasons to watch soccer instead of going out and play it: maybe it's raining, maybe it's late in the night, maybe I'm lazy to go out, maybe I have the flu, maybe I have no friends to play with etc.
But if I'm able to sit in front of a monitor and watch someone playing a videogame... chances are I should be albe to play that videogame by myself, which is what I would do.

So, because of this thread and curiousity I am watching a stream he's doing atm and it's pretty funny.
He involves the audience pretty well, and it's interesting to see how to guarantee a zerphi's drop with a bug method.
It'll be a video on youtube, when he cuts the drops together.
I can smell the vaguely smug 'ha, that sure backired on you, eh, OP' odour from here. Approved.
Oh now, Charan. He also ate tuna something, blew more ex than Rhianna, and got a text from his mum just back from China: maybe what you can smell is the delicious tuna?
The video isn't up on his YouTube yet but surely will be. It really was funny and educational stuff.
Also, did you know

When thinking of the name ‘Canary Islands’, small yellow birds are usually what springs to mind. However the name Islas Canarias is derived from the Latin term Insula Canaria, meaning “Island of the Dogs”. It is thought that these ‘dogs’ were actually a species of Monk Seals, which in Latin translate as ‘sea dogs’. These days they are critically endangered and are no longer present in the Canary Islands. However, legend has it that the original inhabitants of the island used to worship dogs, sometimes mummifying them and treating them as holy animals, and when the Romans first visited the island they gave it the name ‘canarii’ translated as “the ones with dogs”.
In the old town of Puerto de la Cruz you will find the impressive natural salt water swimming pools designed by the famous architect/landscaper Cesar Manrique. The breath-taking Lido Martianez includes 7 pools, changing facilities, subtropical trees and plants, a huge fountain, a jacuzzi, playground equipment, restaurants, and even an underground dance hall and casino.
So if you are looking for an eclectic, cultural experience, considering a trip to the Canary Islands may just be worth your while.

This is like saying you are at a restaurant, and if you look really hard across the street, you see a guy drinking a beer. You see a "no alcohol" sign, and a waiter bringing him more beer in exchange for a $5 note. If you weren't straining yourself to look in the first place, then you wouldn't have even noticed, but now that you have noticed, HOW DARE HE BE DOING THAT MY MEAL IS COMPLETELY RUINED, WAITER COME HERE AND LET ME BUY ALCOHOL AS WELL BECAUSE MY MEAL IS TOTALLY AFFECTED BY THIS HE SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED TO DO THAT.
Can you see how silly it is? If it bothers you, dont pay any attention to it. Don't make up any hypothetical situations on how you would play the game so differently, and how this is ruining your gameplay, because it isn't. I'm sure there are plenty of games out there where RMT is a full part of the game, so maybe you should be playing one of those if your goal in playing a game is to make real cash, rather than relaxing and PLAYING A GAME.

It is not RMT by the usual definition because there is no clear transaction of money or services for in game goods. Viewers do all of it. They give money and goods in game. So the steamer isnt buying anything. What does the payer get out of it? Thats the bit that defies the usual definition of rmt.
This is not me giving my opinion or stance on the matter. Simply saying why this likely will never be handled as rmt by the devs. Its something else.
You know, I remember people complaining about some streamer years ago because he kept hitting 6l's "off camera" after every death he had in hc. Because PoE streaming is so much bigger these days, they don't need to do that "off camera" anymore. Now they can just have shit "gifted by fans" instead ;)

I honestly don't think he's healthy for the community.
Players that watch him have unrealistic expectations from the game and (i feel) would be more likely to RMT to get to CuteDog's power level.
That's not his problem, that's the problem of stupid people.
Let the idiots RMT to try and get to his level, and when they get banned, they will come to the forums and cry.

The point of this is that Streamers collect money. If they also give out items, it can be inferred that they are giving out items in exchange for money.
You can color that many different shades of the rainbow, spray it with expensive cologne, and polish it to a healthy shine... it's still RMT.
No, that's most certainly not RMT, otherwise every in-game gift is RMT because every person has some sort of income.
For it to be RMT the transaction has to be between two persons. If it involves a third, completely unrelated person, it isn't.

CuteDog is fully legit, he just abuses bitchbois and fanscrubs. That's what they are for so i'd consider CuteDog smart for giving them that small moment of useless attention for a LOT of ingame items. Gratz to him.
I... don't really agree with your standard for "fully legit". Is he following the rules? Almost certainly yes--he gets so many handouts that GGG definitely would've investigated him for RMT by now, and presumably that came up clean.
But a "fully legit game streamer", to me, would be one who does well at the game entirely on their own merit. Ziz and many others explicitly don't accept handouts, even though they have several people that want to give them some (because those people want to see their favorite streamers do well). MtG streamers who take gameplay advice from their chat are not "fully legit", and PoE streamers who accept handouts that aid their actual gameplay (so uh, slipperyjim's silly "let's turn in 10000 crowdfunded divination cards and see what happens" don't count since he doesn't end up actually profiting from the experiment) are not, to me, "fully legit", even though they follow the rules.
