Trade Site Improvements

the 1 improvement I want most, is a better AFK check.
What can I say...I use both, with the introduction of Trade-Macro linked to poe.trade, it is still my go to for quick in-game searches. But in Incursion League I have really tried to ween myself off poe.trade and start using Path of Exile-Trade more. I especially like it for deeper searches for specific mods, or for items with an open suffix or prefix. (I find it much more enjoyable to navigate) But honestly devs, in-game searching with just two clicks is hard to beat. Add these features and the community will migrate over.

Keep up the good work! Some great changes for sure.

You guys know that poe.trade only have access to what GGG gives them right? Thats why you get the ??? for mod tiers - because poe.trade has to work it out from just the mod line itself and doesn't have direct access like GGG does?

Also whilst trashing XYZ for lag and delays remember not only do they have to rely on GGG's API which was terrible at one point but without XYZ creating poe.trade years ago we wouldn't even have the "official" trade site we have now. They'd still have you pouring over forum threads to hope to find something randomly, nothing like the search ease we have now.

You can't get around the fact ppl need an ingame implementation of this with automated trading. Minor improvements has been made over the years, but you should now really do "The Thing".

Auction House haters could you finally admit that the effect that you fear is still happening? When Mathil puts up a new build and in 1 day you can see an 1c item turn into 1ex on trade sites it's the same effect, and it really doesn't takes much longer? Chaos/Ex ratio is worse every league.

What we could win with finally doing it is obvious: No more dealing with afk players, price fixers who put up 10ex items for 1c, no more going up from mapping to sell something (which was even worse when you did lab for example)

I just don't get why some ppl automatically say no to this things, when the negative effects of an AH is already here and it's not even that slow to make it worth NOT implementing an actual AH.

And don't even bring up D3 on this.

The fact that we need to tab out of the game is crap. Never mind using external macros to do price checks. There is no way on earth that you can justify this over a typical AH implementation.
I've really been enjoying the improvements and am looking forward to the new ones, especially freeform searches.

Here are a few things that'd be nice:

  • More reliable handling of <tab>. Often if I'm typing in the main box and hit tab to accept the currently selected default, it'll take me someplace strange like "message" so if I hit enter it jumps to my poe messages. If I press tab in an item mod dropdown, sometimes it takes me to some other random place.
  • When typing in a base type like "Heavy Belt", the default should be the base, not some random unique that happens to be alphabetically first. Presumably this will be fixed with the freeform search.
  • For pseudo mods, summed mods, counted mods, etc. always show it as a separate line item, as in poe.trade. This way the relevant information is always in the same place for all items and it makes it much easier to find and compare rares.
  • For summed mods, always show the sum and show it immediately. I find that with live search, it often shows no sum for a while or a sum of a fraction of the mods. If I click the refresh circular arrow, then it recomputes the sums correctly.
  • When clicking on the question mark to put all the mods in an anded-mod section, it'd be helpful to exclude all mods that have no roll range and for those that have a range, pre-populate the min and max values with the possible range. I find that I have to scroll up and down a lot to find an item to mouse over and get the ranges when I'm setting up a search like that.

I respectfully disagree. Having it in a browser provides a lot of extra power and flexibility. Need to look for many different items to make your build work (like combinations of rings, amulets, and belts to cap res and give some damage)? Just open as many tabs as needed and do all the searching you want. Have some hard-to-find items that you need to woop for to find? Setup some live searches in other tabs or even other windows. Want to share a search with a friend who can pick up an item from a seller who lives on the other side of the world? Give them the URL and they can buy it for you? And so on...

I agree with you there. People like me who don't feel comfortable with those macros or who don't want to take the trouble to security-audit them are definitely at a disadvantage.

Now if we had offline trades through an AH that'd be a bit of a different story, but that's a separate debate.

Another feature that'd be nice if it's easy to implement: have a button that toggles a highlight on and off for a given item. That way when searching through long lists of rares (especially rings!), users can flag items that are on their short list.
