PvP Changes and Timeline

Couldn't you just limit target and effect ranges for blanket skills like VD, MO or GC? And disable offscreen completely, making PVP attacks disappear in certain radius?
Secondary damage can be blocked, dodged and evaded reworking is only for PvP or for general game mechanics?

Everything that will affect PvP will only apply in PvP instances like Grand Arena, 1 vs 1, 3 vs 3 maps and will affect only PvP :)

You know the new revamp skill Freezing Pulse- it decrease the damage when the skill travel in long distance, the close you are to the skill the more damage you take, probably GGG will make the same with a lot of offscreen skills :)

That's a genius idea and could in no way ever be a balance issue.....oh wait.

What's this? There's melee in this game, many want to actually get close to their target you say? Surely GGG could adjust damage where it's strong enough to be competitive from afar but not overly powered up close....hmm, highly unlikely.

Skill Changes

All trigger gems and triggered skills will be having significant damage reductions. Ideally, these will be used primarily to trigger utility skills and curses, and won't be a significant source of damage. This includes Lab enchants and items like Poet's Pen that trigger skills.

Secondary Damage

We want to change how secondary damage (such as the explosion from Explosive Arrow or the corpse explosion from Detonate Dead) is handled by damage mitigation.

Currently, these bypass block, dodge and evasion. In the future, we want secondary damage from attacks to be able to be blocked, dodged and evaded just like other attacks, and secondary damage from spells to be spell-blocked and spell-dodged, just like spells.

Some of the details of this change are still being worked out, but we hope to have this in patch 3.4.0 as well.


Are these two sets of changes specifically for PvP combat, or will they apply globally to all areas as well as PvE?


bump, I would also like to know if this is only in PvP scaling or global
Time to Play non ethical pvp again.
Glad to see they try to do something about pvp.
