Grame crashing before real game starts

I've seen almost all crash report threads, and none matches my situation.

The thing is (despite problem that I don't see character models during character creation) whenever I try to load into a game I've got windows error or game exception. Just before a crash I can hear for about one or 2 secs environment voices from the game.

Maybe thats important, when I see login screen I see red info:

Ocean water can not be rendered on your graphic card. This will be fixed in a later version.

This is a known issue with some hardware - we haven't got a fix yet but we're going to try to get one in the future! You may need a more recent graphics card in the meantime.

I thought I would add to this also. I am getting the same "D3DERR_INVALIDCALL" error, resulting in a full crash of PoE whenever I try to load the game.

The game runs just fine on my desktop.

The laptop that I'm getting this error on is:

Radeon x1100 Series Video Card
AMD 2.0GHz 64bit Single-Core CPU
2.25GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I was actually going to be pleasantly surprised if this game would run on low specs on this system (just so I can play it in bed, or when I have wife-aggro and she's taken over my computer), and the fact it got this far into bootup gives me hope. :)

I am having this exact same set of issues.

* Can't see the character choices, but I can select them by blindly clicking on the black portion of the screen.
* Can't change the video rendering options (my normal first troubleshooting steps for graphical issues), when I try to do so the game crashes back to desktop.
* After creating a character, the game crashes with "Unable to create Vertex shader. D3DERR_INVALIDCALL Invalid call" popping up in an alert box.

I checked the system requirements, and according to the information available I should have no trouble running this game. My system:
Microsoft Windows XP Home
Award Modular BIOS V6.00PG
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2048M RAM
DX 9.0c
ATI Radeon X1050 w/256MB

I was really looking forward to giving this game a try. :(
Game Requires Shader 3.0, that card should is 2.0.

Well that bites. The information I read said it supported shader versions past 2.0. Oh well, thanks for clearing it up. :/
