Bestiary recipe: Corrupt Armour or Weapon 30% quality

Alright, so im doing this both for challenge and improving my Starforge - however is there risk involved in this?

Like if you use Vaal orb to corrupt an item, you could potentially destroy your item (make a unique, rare. Change colour of sockets etc)

Does this risk apply to the Bestiary: recipe as well?

Really wanna know before I go and use it on my nearly perfect rolled starforge :P

Then maybe use it on a garbage unique first?

The way I remember the recipe was worded is it guarantees getting an implicit, which means it can't brick to yellow.

I rather not because it took me really long to get the monster for this recipe, and im talking about the one that corrupts armour or weapon to 30% quality, which basicly means you increase the DPS of a weapon if you use it on that
Anyone else got any thoughts?
I dont think theres any risk afaik, but having said that starforge is probably as bad a choice of weapon to use it on as youre gonna find.

Quality is additive with % increased damage on the weapon, so you have a starforge that has 500% increased damage + 20% from quality, so its already 520%, and youre going to make it 530%. Its hardly doing anything because it already has to much increased and has absolutely no flat damage for this increase to boot, just the base damage of the white sword.

something like a disfavour is pure added flat damage, it has no increased at all. This means a disfavour with 0 quality is 500 pdps and with 20% quality goes to 600 pdps, with 30% it will be 650 pdps.

A starforge is like 707 pdps with 0 quality, 720 with 20% so itll be like 726 with 30%.

Thanks for the input, this was very illuminating. While I agree with your assessment. I have one of two options. Improve my Starforge (however little it may be) or improve something I do not intend to use, and purely sell it for profit.

Profit is always nice, but i dont really find myself in a position where I need currency right now so adding a few more numbers to a nearly perfect Starforge sounds okay to me even tho the improvement will be less than what I intially thought.

I was just wondering today if a unique could be bricked down to a rare with this recipe. I can see some interesting applications of this on both armour and weapons.
bump.

any news on this?
I haven't seen anyone confirming that it can't break, I tried it on one unique and it didn't break. Now I'm having trouble finding another lvl 70+ Amphibian Rare with Craicic Presence mod lol. Anyone have an idea what map is good for finding those?
Ive not seen any evidence it can rip the items.

I broke down and decided I needed 30% disfavours so I dove in and started playing the league against my better judgement.

bought one and did the alter on the other myself, didnt rip, honestly I dont think it can rip them I havent heard a single case of an item turning rare or doing anything other than giving it 30% quality.
