This is a fair point. in the game, you can trade 5 rare items of the same type to get an unid'd new one; that prophecy for 5 uniques into a different unique, etc.

I understand how the boxes are an extension of the RNG gambler's adrenaline kind of ARPG culture and I do think that can be fun. And the ability to combine items has totally changed the Mystery Boxes into something more dynamic and rewarding... BUT... once you start getting multiples of un-combinable MTX, the losing streak can really feel disheartening.

If there could be a way to "combine" 5-of-a-kind for an unopened Mystery Box, it might satisfy that weird tier of people who just get really awful RNG. I mean, they are spending at least 150 points to even qualify for this -- probably more -- it seems to me like adding a kind of "customer service stop-loss in the spirit of goodsportsmanship" to keep people buying, but not getting too discouraged, either. The House always wins either way: customers feel like buying boxes is never a total loss, even if RNG is terrible for them; GGG stands to make the same or more money because buyers are more confident.

Also -- is combining items something that is always possible or ONLY if a MTX comes form a Mystery Box? I like the exclusive MTX associated with leagues, challenges, and supporter packs. They show a player's devotion to the game and are special. If the mystery box MTX could only be combined during the Mystery Box selling period, or if MTX could only be combined with their companion MTX if both MTX originated form a Box, perhaps that too would drive up Box sales.

I support the game pretty regularly, but I reserve my points for the least risky transactions (ie: stuff in the store on sale). If There were 5-item rerolls and a combo-only-during-promotion restrictions on the boxes, I'd spend almost all my points on boxes.
