Feb 29 Realm restart with mini patch
We haven't allocated a new version number to this version or written any patch notes because there are no noticable changes, other than hopefully a more stable realm!
Edit: Success! The two fixes did fix what we wanted. Last edited by Chris#0000 on Oct 31, 2012, 5:44:50 AM

This patch fixed two bugs for sure:
1) The server infinite loop that could occur with Molten Shield. This would happen if you died to an elemental damage reflect monster that reflected the damage of your molten shield exploding while also being in the middle of doing another attack. 2) A server crash that would occur if one player in the game experienced enough lag (or had a slow enough connection) while doing an area transition. The server crash is fixed, but the player will still get disconnected. Changes coming in a patch soon will significantly reduce the amount of bandwidth required for joining town which should significantly speed up town joins and the lag spikes you get when other players join town. The question you are probably asking is does this fix disconnections that people are getting in Act 2 Difficulty 4 town. The simple answer is: We don't know, but maybe. Chris and I have spent the last few days attempting to find this bug. So far, we haven't been able to reproduce it locally even once. We have even written a bot to attempt as closely as possible emulate the behaviour of Chaos grinding players in terms of forming random parties and moving between Chaos and that town quickly. The #2 bug listed above is our current best theory, but has we have not been able to reproduce the actual problem in the exact circumstances that happen on the live realm, all we know is that we have fixed *a* crash, but it may or may not be *the* crash that is causing all the problems. About (2), I only had this bug recently, and I don't really have a slow connection (8Mbits download, 1Mbits upload), and the bug occured multiple times when I exited the town, and twice and I was actually in game with friend.

" Real called for. Honestly I read that as querying 'how stable is more stable'. Granted, could have been clearer, but still. +1 to stronger servers, always. Getting pumped for open beta over here. Last edited by Aranneas#5487 on Feb 29, 2012, 1:26:53 AM

hey, i have really bad lags since this mini patch, before i could play without any lags.

" That definitely wasn't the patch - we only changed two small things and they both appeared to work. Bad clientside lag is almost always due to problems with your ISP. If it persists, please follow the directions in the bug reporting forum related to reporting lag so that we can get our ISP to look into it! Thanks. | |
Interesting. I made a post a while ago about some lag issues involving lag spikes to ~400ms every few seconds. As of right now, I'm getting a consistent ~60ms with no spikes. I'll do regular checks to see if it stays this way.
edit: Couple hours later and the spikes are back. This is right after downloading the very latest patch. Last edited by Flubber020#4262 on Feb 29, 2012, 6:26:19 PM
