Will the +1500 armour from "The Surrender" Shield apply to the gem's damage calculation?

highly doubt it. This skill may actually be the reason that's set up that way, methinks.

Think it will be fun to play but...If you really want to copy some stuff from diablo III (tribute to blessed shield crusader here) please also implement auto pickup of orbs... So boring to click for each one !!!!

So, the stat scaling on defenses doesn't improve with level?

Bummer...

If the flat damage scales at the same rate as EK then this gem at best will be a level 27 EK Nova in terms of damage with a 2k armor shield.

Except lower aoe, shitty chaining mechanics nerf, reliance on hit rate and thus a harder time going crit on top of the fact that there is little generic crit scaling on the tree so it's essentially going to be built like an auto-bomber. In addition to the limited choice of crit, the gem's passive damage scaling looks to be projectile and generic only. On top of that the unaltered projectile speed looks on par with Essence Drain. . .

I don't mind that it won't scale with facebreakers and unarmed stuff for the simple fact that this unique has consistently been the delegate of big flat phys numbers for a long time, but the amount of crit and damage scaling that we won't be doing with this gem makes me wonder why not?

I was really excited for this Gem. I was in complete denial when it was revealed, "Oh boy, 300~400 flat phys from a 2k armor shield, that's not too bad I guess, but wow it explodes on every chain, hey that's pretty viable for clearing...this could be like Lightning Arrow for melee! Yay."

Then the nerf happens, "Well, maybe the flat phys from armor/evasion will scale even higher with levels making it good at single target.."

Then the announcement happens to let us know that it indeed doesn't do that, "Well...Atleast Elemental Hit has company and possibly even a better now..."

I don't mean to be defending 2018 Elemental Hit but atleast it can be Multi-striked and GMP'd and works with unarmed.

Really was hoping melee got some love, was really hoping to see the skill release slightly weaker than Tornado Shot and Kinetic Blast but with the same potential. It's just not though. It's no where near it. lvl 27 EK is only amazing because it clears quickly and can crit, but this can't really do either, and you have to worry about accuracy...

Egh.

It's just underwhelming, not knowing exactly how much the flat damage scales, but anyone can bring up the wiki and find similar flat scaling skills to find out that It's most likely not going to be large enough for all of it's downsides...

And the shards deal 25% less damage so it might aswell be a lvl 23 Ethereal Knives, in regards to flat damage.

No spell echo, no gmp, no multistrike, shitty chain interaction, no crit rate, no hit rate, little passive damage scaling, slow projectile speed, 1.20 base APS, and can't be affected by unarmed shit... Lol YEAH, this is exactly what I was looking for in a skill, it's bad at absolutely everything. Taking all things into consideration this will most likely function as a lvl 14 Ethereal Knives with the absolute lack of damage scaling pushing back everything from it's simple lack of existence, no echo, no melee damage, no weapon damage. fug, atleast make it so that it scales crit with block chance instead of ES. Nobody wants your dookie Energy Shield anymore.

Maybe Tectonic Strike support gem will save it, who knows, I don't know, maybe there will be items that also scale damage from shield defenses, maybe even Gladiator will be focused around doing this very fucking thing. I don't know, but as is, just comparing it's mechanics and damage to other skills... it's just very dull. A delayed and extremely small version of one tornado shot projectile, only about 5times shittier mechanically than that one tornado shot projectile.

...

What is the base attack speed of this skill or what is it based off of?

The unique nature of using a Shield for damage means you can use your main-hand weapon for its bonus properties, like the attack speed of Prismatic Eclipse or the additional chain from Ewar's Mirage.

Based what is equipped in the main weapon slot in addition with general (non-weapon)attack speed increases (like Haste, general attack speed nodes).
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks

Kind of looks like a melee version of tornado shot.

It already has 8 additional projectiles so Maybe Spec shield throw, added fire, life leech, projectile phys damage, (is pierce built in?) maybe crit mult. Cant wait to try.

Where is ascendancies??

I can't confirm exactly when we're showing off more Ascendancy Classes but it's probably prudent to let you guys know that we're not posting one today. We'll post them as they're available to showcase. The team are working really hard to finalize them and get them through the build as soon as possible so that we can show them off. We're keenly aware of the community's desire to check these out and start planning their builds. They're a top priority for us too.

Im sorry, but if they were a top priority, then they would have been done long before now. Now that just confirms most of them will just be broke in one way or another, which most expect anyways sadly. There was also no reason to rework all of the ascendencys, only had to fix the stupidly broken ones, that were barely used.

al-Dhih and the new War Bringer ascendancy.... that seems like a solid rage generator and could actually be useful as a healing mechanic?

Tried Al-Dhil with War Bringer in beta Oriath. Abyssal Cry triggered from Al-Dhil does not count as your cry, so you not heal, but get cooldown for any other cryes every time when Abyssal Cry was triggered, because all cryes have a shared cooldown.
E = mc^(OMG)/wtf
With this skill, is it possible to dual wield shields? ... seems it should be possible since it does not rely on a weapon. And if so, does it increase the skill's damage?

I think this happens in the video at around 0:13, but I'm not totally sure: if the shield hits an obstacle instead of an enemy, does it still spawn the secondary projectiles?

Yes its do shatter on obstacle you can clearly see it at 3-4 sec exploding on top of the screen.
