[3.10] From League Starter to Shaper – Cheap, Tanky, Fast and Fun Physical ST – Very Detailed Guide

Hey I don't get to play much and this is my first league since the Atlas first came out. I found your build and it's really a lot of fun. Thanks for making the guide.

I hope I can get more time to play next league, hopefully nothing changes that would drastically affect the build.

How does the build do as an uber lab farmer?
Any character that takes Vaal Pakt has a disadvantage in lab. However this is a slayer so the endless leech makes up for the lack of life regen (for about 30sec). Our leech is much higher than what you can get from regen in most cases. However we need to kill enemies to leech and this may be a problem in lab where there are no enemies in certain areas. A writhing jar can help with that.

So to answer your question. You can run uber lab just fine with this build. Fire traps are a joke but spikes are annoying. However if you want a build that will mostly be used to run uber lab you're better off building a juggernaut with a ton of armour and life regen.

tl;dr
Occasional lab runs: the build is fine
Constant lab runs: nothing beats a jugg

Thanks for the explanation!

I want to be a little more focused next league (barring any crazy life events) and I think farming uber lab sounds like a good goal. I'll look into something like the thicc jugg build and maybe buy my way into something sweet after doing that for a while.

Thanks again!
Thanks man for the awesome guide! its very detailed and answers all the questions. Also build is great too. it will be my league starter for the 3.6

I'm not sure if uber lab is still worth farming consistently but in any case good luck with that.

Yeah it's a great league starter. Sometimes I wish I used it in every league but I can only really make one high level build each league now.

I was wondering, we get leech from claws etc, but why it's not 2h build or gladiator when we benefit from weapon type ascendancy points too (yeah I saw slayer pros, but we still pretty much lose 4 nodes bonusses).

I made this build in 3.5 but scaling damage later on is bit hard and need to really get used to spectral throw just because how projectiles fly, I think also wasp nest is more comfortable to play due to attack speed being faster, projectiles and so, wolves are somewhat useless and herald of purity spawns does good enough, with wasp nest also a herald of agony spawns that op crawler really often.
Two handed ST really sucks. You can try it if you want. It's weird that you're asking why this is not a gladiator if you have read the guide. I think I do a pretty good job of explaining why I chose Slayer.

The 2-handed bonus that we miss is 56% increased. It would be nice to have it but it's not that much. CERTAINLY not enough to choose 2-handed weapons over claws. The claws are sooooo much better for us.

Any skill needs a particular play style. I happen to love ST. Wasp nests are pretty great. The scourges though are a bit better. But sure, you can keep the wasps if you want. You'll just do 20% less damage.

The wolves are not there for damage. They are just a distraction for enemies, providing an additional layer of defense. You can also socket blind to have them blind enemies for you. Pretty useful.

HoA does not really work well with this. Sure the crawler is strong but only if you have a lot of virulence stacks. With 20% chance to poison that won't happen often enough. Just having the crawler there without enough stacks is pretty useless. Especially if you consider the damage that you miss from not using HoP.

HI

I just wanted to thank you for this great explained and awesome to play build. ST makes so much fun.

It's my first char and my first league. But your build and the great details you are talking about helped me a lot.

I'm starting mapping now, beating first yellow maps pretty easy, and to get there with your build was pure fun :)
I think i'll play that build right again in the next league :)
or if you are making another build i may try that ^^

So just thank you again. you made my entry to this game a lot easier with this great explained build:)
keep on going :)

Hey, I'd also like to thank you for this build. I'd been away from the game for a very long time, then for some reason decided to get back a couple of weeks before Betrayal ended, what I achieved in such a short amount of time was extraordinary (for me).

The best part of the build is how cheap it actually is, it's a no BS, no gimmick, build that is 100% doable even in SSF. Everything I achieved in the league was done with undeniably cheap gear (under 1 ex total) and self leveled gems. There are thousands of builds out there that are gated by enormous amounts of currency and this one is one and it deserves to be praised.

Alas, it apparently got severely shafted by the leech nerf, which makes me very sad as I was looking forward to using it as a league starter in Synthesis.

Anyway, thank you my friend.
First of all thank you guys for your messages. I'm glad you're enjoying the build.

As for the changes we saw today... well if you thought that leech was complicated, it just got a lot more.

There is a pretty detailed explanation by Mark here. It makes sense but it's damn convoluted.

The way I see it at the moment is that this will be a nerf for us but hopefully not as much as it seems at first. Let me explain.

The way that leech works now favors lots of fast and small hits. Heavy and slow hits are capped by the new 10% limit which makes builds that use them a lot worse now. Fortunately for us we do plenty of small hits (especially on bosses) and each one of those provides an independent source of leech.

What is definitely a nerf is the total length of our "endless" leech which is now not endless at all. While this is not a problem in a fight where we are constantly hitting stuff and leeching, it will be a problem in things like lab. It will also make sustaining blood rage more difficult as it will reduce our life between packs and make damage on full life not work until we leech back.

I'll wait for the actual patch notes tomorrow for a more detailed opinion. We are supposedly getting 3 modifiers that will increase that 10% but we don't know what they are yet (I'm guessing VP is one of them). So stay tuned for more details.
