Latency Spikes. Fixed By Reloading Instances (WinMTR @ Screenshots Included)

Hi there.

I play on the London Gateway but the problem listed below is not limited to the London Gateway for me.

To explain as simple as possible, I get latency spikes randomly when loading a fresh instance. If I reload the instance the lag will eventually clear, depending on how I get routed via my IP addresses.

Here are my tests with screenhots and corresponding winMTR tests:

Test 1 (London Gateway. Laggy).

WinMTR: https://pastebin.com/ZxfanLja

Test 2 (Instance IP. Laggy).

Test 3 (London Gateway. Mostly Clear).

Test 4 (Instance IP. Slightly Laggy).

From the tests I can see that for some reason that the first two instances load an IP that gives 90-100% loss from on hop 3 (129.hiper04.sheff.dial.plus.net.uk).

For some reason reloading the instance causes the game to load differntly and my the IP that was on the third hop dissapears and another one loads onto the 4th hop with 0-10% or so loss (be3-3100.pcn-ir01.plus.net).

Is there any way to force the game to load the second way every time? It is really frustrating reloading to get the right routing and I am not sure how this will play out when mapping.

Thanks in advance for any help.

P.S Images are linked as I cannot get the image function to work correctly.

Happens to me at the start of the league every league pretty much, never gotten a clear response but I would assume there are overflow servers some users are being pushed to.

If you are having high latency, but only to specific instances, and changing instances helps ... use /bug in-game to create a bug report when you hit a laggy instance, and the same in the non-laggy one, and post the pair in this thread.

That should help the developers track down which specific instance servers are problematic, and which are fine, and figure out how to fix the problem.

Thanks for the help but it is all instances that load under the IP address in the first MTR test. All instances, and the whole game, will lag if I connect with the IP address in the first MTR test and conversely the game, and all instances , are smooth when loaded with the IP address in the second set of MTR tests. I already posted a laggy and non-laggy version of the same instance in my OP.

Already emailed GGG tech support and already contacted my ISP.

During morning and daytime my latency is steady 40ms. After 17:00-18:00 it gets pretty much unplayable. Constantly spiking 40ms-2000ms, with a lot of disconnects. Then again it fixes itself at around 22:00 / 23:00 lasting all the way to next evening.

I have tried with different games during this time and none of those have any issues. WoW, CS:GO, Diablo 3 and many others.

It just seems servers get crap ton of traffic on prime time and there is nothing we can do about it other than wait for league to die and then play.

I can't wait for Xmas holidays being completely unplayable whole day through.
