Curse on Hit Doesn't Work in Headgear?

Hey GGG,

I was using Cast when Damage Taken level 1, Ball Lightning level 4, Curse on Hit level 12, and Flammability level 12 in my footgear. The curse application was working fine until I went to switch the combo to my headgear and noticed that Flammability stopped showing up when Ball Lightning would hit enemies. The enemies weren't hexproof and I had the proper equipment and skill tree node to allow 4 curses. (I also had Temporal Chains and Enfeeble running in Blasphemy.) I reworked my gear and tried the gem combo in my gloves and Curse on Hit worked as it should. I put it back in my headgear and it stopped working. I'm sorry I currently don't have the resources and equipment to try another helmet and I can't try it in a chest piece until I level a couple more times.

In case it's a mod or something specific on the helm that's the issue, here are the stats of the helm (I don't know how to add pictures):

- Onslaught Brow Great Crown
- Quality +8
- Armour 250
- Energy Shield 49
- Requires Level 53, 59 Str, 59 Int
- +33 to Strength
- +25 to Intelligence
- 67% Increased Armour and Energy Shield
- 13% Increased Rarity of Items found
- 32% to Cold Resistance
- 11% Increased Stun and Block Recovery

I just got a Tabula and tried the combo, it works fine. Seems to be just the helm.

Cast when damage taken triggers are working fine for me. Make sure that your gem levels aren't too high, the level of your cast when damage taken gem is important, the lower level it is means it can only trigger lower level supported gems, by the sounds of it your supported gems may be too high level. You can find more information about this if you read the CWDT gem.

I'm surprised it didn't work. I've duplicated the bug on multiple characters with Great Crowns. As I mentioned in the original post, I used the same gems on the other gear and it worked fine. I put them back in the Great Crown and it did not.

So to follow up with your suggestion, the appropriate gem levels were taken care of properly before the original post.

Happy to help. That's odd, I tried it with the exact setup you listed (Great Crown, same gems / levels) and it works just fine for me locally. Have you tried removing other gear to see if this still occurs? In cases like this we need to narrow down what the cause could be as it could be a different piece of gear, a passive point, etc.

You know, funny enough, I have seen this before. It's not you: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2036404. I found this on the console version and thought the bug was just cause the console version needed some TLC.

If the issue is both on PC and console, I'll add to the bug report.

I fixed it by removing the minion gems from my helm. I ended up with them in my Windscream. 2 Blue in a strength based item was pretty cheap in Chromatic Land.

Well, this one is easily solved.

The Cast When Damage Taken Support in the Superior Crusader Helmet is level 1, so can only support skills which require level 38 or lower. Level 5 Raise Spectre requires level 40, level 13 Raise Zombie requires level 44, and level 6 Stone Golem requires level 44.

Have/had (prev league) kind of the same problem, altho reversed. On my ranger I could only use purity of ele IF slotted in my bow... no other location would work, got the effect (gfx) but no benefit, once in a bow socket no probs. Tried PoE on any of my other chars and it just worked, no matter what item. Guess I was just unlucky :)
