GGG can u plz fix crash/instant rip on HC?
just died on SSF HC at lvl 93 and top 22 on the ladder today early to a game crash.
GGG can u plz forget everything about content in this game and please fix the game crash/disconnect on 3.1? I'm wondering if you can create something that when your game crash, FPS goes to 0 the SERVER automatically kicks out your character from the server. Can u do it? I guess this is not so hard. HC needs this. We really do. Can't u do anything about it? Just a instant kick? This fixes a lot of bullshit deaths that we do not deserve. I agree that the server does take too long to decide a disconnection has occurred.
Though it would be a difficult thing to get right. For some people with good connections and minimal distance to travel, no response after 100 ms would be an indication of a problem, yet there are others who don’t live near a gateway for whom ~120 ms is a normal ping. I would say 0.5s should be instantly kick out of the server to prevent this type of stuff. And not only for HC, SC too since loosing all the exp to nasty lag spikes or massive fps drops is not fun. This could also be implemented in game options, either 0.5s kicked from the server or 10s until it kicks you out. If you net can't handle the 0.5 then stick with the current option.

" It is a little pedantic, but you are waaay too late to ask for anything in 3.1. Heck, probably 3.2 and 3.3 are already planned, committed, and works in progress at this point. You should assume any software change is going to take a fair while from concept to release. Anyway, that aside, they can't. Crashes are by definition something where a mistake was made, possibly not even in their code. Fixing mistakes is a great idea, but if you don't know what the mistake was, or where it was, it can be ... challenging to figure it out. :) Disconnects are absolutely impossible to eliminate, simply because hardware cannot be one hundred percent reliable, and there is a lot of hardware owned by a lot of people involved in communication between the client and the server. You should probably focus on "when lockstep is enabled, don't do damage to the character if the client is not responding in a timely fashion, such as one or two frames." (I doubt you will get what you want, though, since that necessarily restricts responsiveness to well above the level people will start to notice the stuttering and pain of any latency variation on the network path.) |

Would avoid A LOT of game crashs deaths and the crashs would still be happening for some reason not under our countrol, but characters would be safe. That's the idea. I'm always surrounded by mobs, breach, bosses and exploding everything. Look: If there is a 1second delay without any answer between me and the server just kick me out already, something is wrong! That's the idea. What is really awful is HC being such a important part of the game and we don't have any kind of protection against crashs, whenever your game crash you still in the server/map for 3 or 4 seconds what is more than enough to die in any map. " That is why we want to have it customizable ;). 6000ms or whatever it is at the moment is clearly dumb though. On the other hand, when leveling in SC I don't mind ripping much, so a 5s logout timer is OK. Same when running Uber Atziri at 0% XP on SC. Long logout timer. When playing HC or leveling in the 90s I would like a 0.5-1s logout timer though. Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
