Repetitive client crash while using Scorching Ray
This seems to have something to do with the fact that the ray's visual effect gets "stuck" on the wall when you turn around. The moment it should snap back into place is when it crashes.
What's weird is that the crash doesn't seem to happen at all with "Engine Multithreading" set to Disabled; the framerate skips a bit, but it keeps running. |

I also found that turning engine multithreading off seems to avoid the bug. However, this causes performance trouble in busy areas. So I'm just turning EM off for uber trials (or any map where I see a crash), and keeping it on elsewhere.

i have been crashing with scorching ray since 3.0.0, expansion got released, new league, new char, and from the moment i used SR it crashed every now and then, i am pretty sure it crashed when not standing next to a wall too...but maybe its the same kidn of bug just that it can be triggered by more other things than just walls...
but yeah, engine multithreading off avoids crashes, and then turning down to trilinear filtering keeps the lag in check all this under dx9ex of course because dx11 is unplayable all this since 3.0.0, several patches, stupid announcements like ", but nothing done... Seems plausible that crashes with TV spectres could have a common root cause?

I am having client crashes with TV spectres, only in maps and only during many (but not all) harbinger mobs. It seems to happen less consistently if I manage to keep most or all of the harbinger mob fx off screen. When it does happen all portals either disappear or become inactive (disconnected from server message) and my inventory is rolled back to before I entered the map the last time.
This also happens to me in Zana missions within a map. The Zana mission map is lost as well as anything picked up within the Zana mission map, while the primary map where I found Zana is unaffected. Any information on expected progress on this issue would be greatly appreciated. My TV spectre summoner is currently my only reliable Beachhead character so I am unable to play those maps at all. |

Hi folks. Curious if anyone has tried dx 9 instead of 11 and repeated this bug?

I think I've crashed once from this.
Disconnects, on the other hand... It's a gamble every time I encounter a Harbinger pack with Scorching Ray (Tukohama's Vanguard). " The bug actually crashes the instance server. That means that, yeah, the instance is gone. Personally, I'd consider grabbing different specters until this is solved. (Though, obviously, several fixes have already been made, and the bug remains, so it must have multiple causes and/or triggering conditions, or otherwise be subtle and hard to fully resolve.) |
