[3.2] Tremor Queen GC miner [HC/SC][Everything viable][Budget]
What separates this sabo GC miner from most others?
- It's non crit, so much cheaper to gear - It's fast as hell for general mapping, around 150% MS - Tanky. High evasion, blind, dodge/spell dodge, 7.5k effective HP with MoM, 20% life regen But still able to deal the truckload of damage you'd expect from GC mines.
Just how much damage?
{Disclaimer} It's been brought to my attention that Tremor Rod's rearming is much slower than expected because the mines actually have to cast the spell, based on the spells cast speed which in this case is 0.80 (base) for GC. That means you will actually lay down mines faster than they can rearm and they will be destroyed, causing a significant loss in DPS. However, since it's rare that you stand still and lay down mines for a long period of time without moving, tremor rod is still worth using, but a good stat stick will have more DPS. Path of Building does not do a good job of calculating mines dps, in fact it doesn't even try. So let's figure it out with out own calculation/visualization. First off, we get 100% increased arming speed, instant mine detonation and about 100% increased mine laying speed. Assume a spell totem is detonating my mines for me. Both base arming speed and base mine laying speed are 0.5 seconds, so: Our mines are laid down every 0.25s, exploding 0.25s later and rearmed again, exploding again another 0.25s later because of tremor rod. Because arm speed is the same as my mine laying speed it becomes pretty easy to calculate. PoB tells me that my mines hit for 50k+ and glacial cascade hits enemies 2-3 times. Minefield makes it so we lay down 3 mines every time. Let's calculate. 50k*2,5*3 = 375k But let's not forget tremor rod re-arming the mines. Here it all is visualized: 0.25s-0.50s-0.75s-1.00s-1.25s-1.50s-1.75s mine--deto--deto--mine--deto--deto--mine ------mine--deto--deto--mine--deto--deto ------------mine--deto--deto--mine--deto ------375k--750k--750k--750k--750k--750k = 3 000 000 damage total from 0.75s to 1.75s mark "mine"=mine is finished being placed. "deto"= mine is detonated. That is without preparing for a fight by laying down 9 mines before the fight begins, in which case you would have greater DPS for the first second of the fight: 0.00s-0.25s-0.50s-0.75s-1.00s deto--deto--------mine--deto ------mine--deto--deto--mine ------------mine--deto--deto 1.1m--1.1m--375k--750k--750k = 4 075 000 damage total from 0.00s to 1.00s mark This is the kind of damage numbers you'll see following my guide, but if you want to calculate your own dps just change to the relevant numbers. Keep in mind however, this is essentially tooltip DPS. Real DPS may vary.
Optional read, interesting problem
If you do prepare for a fight by laying down mines beforehand, capping the amount of mines you can have on the ground, you can encounter an interesting problem. If your mine laying speed is slightly faster than the arming speed you will lose dps by destroying some of your mines before they can arm/detonate. Also, since tremor rod arms all those mines a second time you can't actually lay anymore mines down for as long as it takes to arm/detonate them (0.25s in this case).
^TL;DR the above, about 3+ million DPS. (inaccurate, read disclaimer under spoiler tag) Here is the Path of Building link https://pastebin.com/ZChHWTpC so you can check out all the details. It includes multiple trees, for leveling, early mapping and lategame mapping. >3.1 character The_Deadliest_League 3.0 character can be found under the name PC_Child >Important trick to making playing with mines enjoyable!<
Gear:
Essentials: <BIS for non crit builds. 6link NOT required. <Needed for the extra movementspeed <Needed for hatred with MoM < Place an additional mine mod is OP Good mods to look for on the rest of our gear pieces: +Life +Evasion, flat and % +Mana/mana regen +Resists +Flask mods (belt) Best gear you can get is pure evasion gear. However, early on it can be hard to get the right socket colours so we'll use hybrid evasion gear. Use a rare stygian vise and a rare amber amulet for the strength. Jewels: GC miners benefit from a ton of jewel affixes so acquiring good ones shouldn't be difficult. I will include two poetrade search forms to make it easier, but remember to choose the league you're playing in. Ideal: Search form: http://poe.trade/search/ikutoborehohet Cheap: Search form: http://poe.trade/search/amokomakohukah Abyss jewels: Search form: http://poe.trade/search/oohinonatamgag The ideal ones I bought for 10-20c if you're quick to grab them. If you can't afford or don't want to spend the time, you can get the cheap ones for 2-4c easily. Clear mind is good too, but can't be used with clarity. Using one or two The Long Winter saves 3 skill points, but costs jewel sockets. Personally I don't use it, but it's a good option. Watchers Eye can be immensely powerful for us. There are a few powerful mods to look out for: - (10-15)% chance to Recover 10% of Maximum Mana when you use a Skill while affected by Clarity - Damage Penetrates (10-15)% Cold Resistance while affected by Hatred - (25-40)% of Physical Damage Converted to Cold Damage while affected by Hatred The clarity affix is particularly powerful as it could potentially be enough to sustain mana without a mana potion! Flasks: If you can't get a Taste of Hate you just replace it with a basalt. For general mapping you want to use a basalt flask anyway, for the curse immunity. You can drop the quicksilver for the wise oak for boss runs. Sin's Rebirth exists as an option for general mapping. It will give you some movement speed, but the dmg boost you get is less than with other flasks. Until you get enough mana regen to sustain GC+MoM, use a mana potion. Other potential ways of sustaining mana: Lavianga's Spirit Vaal Clarity
Pantheon powers & bandits
Brine King, fully upgraded to deal with chill/freeze/stun and Garukhan fully upgraded for a bit more dodge and ms.
Bandit reward: 2 skillpoints
Gems & supports
Glacial Cascade - Minefield - Concentrated effect - Controlled destruction 5th & 6th link: Elemental Focus (can't chill/freeze) / Trap & Mine Damage (has less damage) Alternative 6th link: Hypothermia (instead of Elemental Focus). Allows you to chill/freeze. Can be difficult to get 2 green sockets on Tremor Rod. Orb of storms - Curse on Hit - Elemental Weakness/Frostbite - Arcane Surge (low lvl) Hatred (in Essence Worm) Cast when damage taken - Immortal Call - Frost Bomb - Increased duration Detonate mines - Spell totem - Minion & Totem Elemental resistance - Increased duration Vaal Grace - Increased duration - Faster casting - Flame dash
Leveling
Since it's been heavily requested, here is a guide on leveling this build as your first character of a league. I will expand upon it sometime after the 3.1 launch weekend. First off, this can be leveled as a generic spellcaster. That leaves you with a ton of options and you can go look up other peoples leveling guides. I have some leveling gear and skill recommendations in my PoB link, as well as lvl 59 tree. Personally I will either level with Glacial Cascade or Blade Vortex, both self cast. If you want to level with mines, just get the mine nodes and mine ascendancies first. It probably won't feel very comfortable until after cruel lab when you get demolitions specialist.
Glacial Cascade
Leveling with GC will be the most straight forward way. We'll be picking up Freezing Pulse as our first skill and fire trap for that extra bit of damage early on. Get frost bomb at lvl 4. Grab the shadow starting elemental nodes instead of the physical ones. The +1 cold level recipe will be good enough until level 28 when we make the switch to GC. Make the switch to a 4link whenever you can. In the tree go towards Mind over Matter before you go down to the ranger starting area. I usually do the labyrinth at lvl 40. Cruel lab and merciless lab do nothing for us until we spec into mines. Personally I won't spec into mines until I have a tremor rod and after merciless lab, so probably at lvl 70++.
Blade Vortex
Leveling with BV is a bit more complex. Grab Ethereal Knives as your starting skill. It won't feel very good, but you only have to use it until lvl 12 when we make the switch to BV. There is no vendor recipe for +1 skill gems so it will be slightly harder to gear, so get a 4link as soon as possible. BV's strength lies in its heavy single target damage, decimating bosses very quickly. Its downsides are the small AoE, meaning you have to get close to enemies and the fact that it's duration, meaning we have to pick up the potency of will duration cluster. In the tree we go towards Mind over Matter first, get the AoE and the duration cluster. You can use Bladefall for general clearing and BV only for bosses if you'd like. I usually do the labyrinth at lvl 40. Cruel lab and merciless lab do nothing for us until we spec into mines. Personally I won't spec into mines until I have a tremor rod and after merciless lab, so probably at lvl 70++.
Fire nova mines
If you want to level as a miner, I'd recommend FNM over GC mines. I haven't tested leveling with it so I can't give much detail, but the damage and AoE is pretty decent. Go for demolitions specialist ascendancy as fast as possible.
Check this thread for ideas on how to level it: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1774498/page/1 General leveling tips: - Link a low level arcane surge to a skill like flame dash, a curse or frostbomb. - Skillbook/deicide quests of act 6-9 can be quite dangerous so I recommend skipping them until you're overleveled. Some of those gods are nasty. - Act 8 sewer Doedre is spooky. Her teleport attack can one-shot. Beware. - For HC players in particular. GET INSTANT HEAL POTIONS. [Videos] 3.1 First map in 3.1, 4link tremor rod, no QotF: https://youtu.be/jx3X2NMC_60 3.0 Apex of Sacrifice: https://youtu.be/1KL9NU8oeU4 T15 Abyss boss: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl2QgaXQozs&feature=youtu.be Shaped Strand 200 million exp an hour https://youtu.be/Dayxtz04YcA I do accept user videos. So if you've killed shaper, elder or done something else cool, feel free to submit your videos to me! [FAQ] Why all the strength on gear? Never say no to more life, which strength gives us. No golem? Which golem to use? Golems can kill you by baiting boss attacks while offscreen and they make chain maps a pain. But for leveing pre-maps I'd use a stone golem for its taunt ability. Can you recommend this for group izaro runs? I haven't done any myself, so no I can't. If you want specs that delete bosses in full groups; I'd recommend a crit GC miner build instead. Why isn't my totem detonating the mines? Totems only detonate mines when enemies are nearby (near the totem, not your character).
Old patch notes
3.1 update:
3.1 has introduced some really powerful items that benefit our build greatly. Until I know for sure that these items won't get nerfed I will wait until 3.2 before I edit the core guide. - New MUST USE shaper mod: Place an additional mine. ^While otherwise a weak item, place an additional mine is crazy strong for us. Get a helmet with this mod as soon as you can. - In general plenty of new good shaper/elder mods that we benefit from, like penetration on amulets. - Abyss jewels are pretty great so we'll use a couple of those. Look for flat life, %physical dmg added as elemental dmg, elemental penetration, mana regen or other beneficial mods. - Stygian vise belt is now by far the best belt base so we'll use that - Watchers Eye has some potential mods that benefit our build immensely: Damage Penetrates (10–15)% Cold Resistance while affected by Hatred Adds (58–70) to (88–104) Cold Damage while affected by Hatred (25–40)% of Physical Damage Converted to Cold Damage while affected by Hatred ------------------------------------------ Feel free to ask questions. I enjoy answering newbies and veterans alike! Last edited by Scully#4203 on Mar 23, 2018, 5:11:16 PM Last bumped on Apr 17, 2018, 11:25:54 AM

Flasks: Wise Oak, Taste of Hate, Atziri's Promise, Jade of Reflexes, Divine Life of Staunching
When a monster curses this character, he gets to walk it off. When this character gets frozen, he gets to wait it out. Taste of Hate gives 30% chance to avoid being frozen, but does nothing to help a character once the freeze is applied. It surprises me that you find this acceptable. |
|
Ideally you get curse immunity on the mana flask. As for freezes, hasn't been a problem at all with the fully upgraded soul of the brine king in pantheon. Still in the process of updating this thing, hang in there.

Interesting , wanted to build QoTF version, currently run a crit one. Will definitely try it later, thx for the effort!

Anyone know which tier Tremor Rod belongs to? How rare it is? It might be cheaper to buy a 6link military staff, from The Dark Mage, and chance it, rather than try to 6link manually.
edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNbZwQZCkUY&feature=youtu.be Spent about 70c buying the 6link and chancing it. I chanced another one offcam, but that one cost me about 200c total. Will need to chance more of them to see how rare tremor rod is and if this is viable/profitable, but looks good for now. Last edited by Scully#4203 on Sep 21, 2017, 12:14:49 PM

I'm trying out this build and I'm going pretty well so far, although the prospect of affording a 6-link Tremor is oppressive.
I have a few questions: On the CWDT #1: Where do we get endurance charges from for Immortal Call? Why link flame dash with cast-on-damage-taken? It doesn't seem to work and I can't see what the point is (emergency teleportation?) Tremor Rod: Which is preferable: jewelling/fusing until my 4-link Tremor Rod gets 6 links, chancing a 6-link staff, or just plain buying a 6-link off poe.trade? I'm not too big on the meta so I apologize if any of this is nub stuff. |
|
" You can go very far with just a 5link, or even a 4link, so don't worry too much about that. " You don't need endu charges to trigger IC, it's just there to protect against burst phys damage. It works great to stop bleeding from spike traps in lab too. " Flame dash is just linked there because I had no room anywhere else. Just make sure to keep flame dash gem level higher than the CWDT trigger requirement and it should be fine. We do NOT want CWDT to trigger flame dash. " Check what the prices are for 6linked Tremor Rods on your realm and compare it to the price of a 6linked military staff. It should be much cheaper to chance a 6l military staff! |
|
Thank you.
I just threw away 130 chaos on chances/scourings without getting anything. Better luck next round, I guess. |
|
" 130c in terms of getting a 6link tremor rod is a small sum though. This method should be much cheaper than 6linking, where you can have nightmare luck and end up spending several thousands of chaos on fusings. But I think you need to be prepared to spend a lot of currency even with the chancing method. I spent somewhere around 200c on chance/scours on my two attempts. I may do a video on 5link atziri kill though just to show that you really don't need a 6link. |
|
Nah, don't worry. I'm just sort of obsessive about these things. My 4 link is melting everything I've encountered so far.
