Yeah, I know. I'd much prefer if I had to pay for this game, and if I in turn would not have to put up with some of the crap that exists in it.

Frustrated players don't pay more, they quit. RNG gating makes sure that there are at least a few frustrated players every time gating happens. Therefore RNG gating = less money over time.
Someone suggested this earlier, but we should have "virtual trials" for Uber lab. These would be trials that don't reward an Offering to the Goddess but count solely towards completion of the trials for accessing Uber lab. Offerings would be gotten the same way as before, trials on maps.

A simple option that I sometimes use is to play standard instead of the league.
