Contagion + Profane Bloom, anti-synergy or bug?
Contagion sometimes fails to spread when enemies are also affected by Profane Bloom (the Occultist node that makes them explode on death).
I'm guessing that when an an enemy dies while affected by both Contagion and Profane Bloom, the explosion from Profane Bloom is performed before Contagion spreads. This means that any enemies killed by the explosion do not receive Contagion before they die, and therefore cannot spread Contagion themselves. I'm not sure if this is a bug or an intended anti-synergy between these two effects. Can anyone clarify? Last bumped on Oct 18, 2017, 11:25:27 PM

Your assumption is correct - this is working as intended.

I thought the line from the devs was that it was the way the code works that made it turn out like that, and it would need some sort of significant tinkering to make it behave differently? If its intended they should wise up and unintend it then fix it imo. Occultist has the chaos leaning node suggesting part of its design is for these chaos spells, and yet on my occultist my 4th double point spend is spent on the 2 small nodes, one before profane bloom and the one before the power charge... why am I wasting an ascendancy big node due to the fact there isnt 4 large nodes she can take because of this awful anti synergy? Its kind of absurd.

"Hmm, pity. I'd imagine they could delay the explosion's damage by a few milliseconds to both fix this issue (if unintended) and also help with the frame rate drop when a bunch of them go off at once, but I'm sure they would've already tried that if it were that simple. |

Just about finished building my Essence Drain Occultist, when I started to notice this too. I maxed out my Contagion AoE just to make sure. We get this great chaos build base in Occultist, then I cant spread my contagion because my Ascendancy passive stops the spread. All I really want is that sweet +1 curse behind it anyway. Maybe switch the positions of Malediction and Profane Bloom? Do it GGG :)
