I am pretty certain the issue is RAM / Hard Disk / Memory related, not a server issue on GGG's end.

To prove this hypothesis, you can zone between two areas you already have loaded into memory (town to hideout) back and forth multiple times, and you should never disconnect. It's only once the game tries to load new assets that it causes the 'unexpected disconnection'.

Interestingly enough, once you log back in, the zone will load instantly, because it is now fully in memory. This might not be the exact issue that everyone else is experiencing, but it sounds like it.

Memory leaks do not cause disconnects, but crash the game. You need to remember that if your RAM reaches a critical point, it will just shut down the program, as no more memory can be allocated. The system will also start becoming unstable if RAM is not sufficient or the HDD is stressed.

This is not what we see at POE.

We have authentication errors, which means that the server we connect to, just times out and we are back to the log in screen. Another reason for that assumption is the fact, that we can move to another server and play for hours just fine.

Why the authentication is bugged I don´t know, but based on experience with other games I assume they are just unable to handle the huge amount of connections.

3.0 is like a brand new game, many people came back for it and GGG did underestimate the amount of players I suppose.

And even if we assume you are right and it´s a problem with the game and how it utilizes Ram or HDD´s, it´s still on GGG to fix that. Their program is causing the problems, it´s their job to fix that.


I suspect that you're right because this is actually exactly the error I got one time when I disconnected. Usually it just boots me back to the log-in screen with no text, but one time it said:

"Your authentications for instance transfer was invalid".

I was hoping 3.0.0c would help but things are worse than ever. I thought I'd try at least clearing act 4 and just sit on act 5 until these issues are solved but it's a complete nightmare. Getting to each waypoint is a huge relief and warping back to town is a huge gamble. Things got really bad when I got to the belly of the beast. The first time, I disconnected when I tried to enter level 2. After a number of attempts at reconnecting, I managed to kill Piety but disconnected when I tried to enter the harvest. After a couple of attempts, I reconnected and decided to unload my inventory. There was so much lag this took several minutes just to directly unload it and the models for my items didn't even load initially. By the time I got back to the belly of the beast, the instance had reset and I had to fight my way back and kill Piety again. I got another disconnect trying to enter the harvest. After three more attempts at logging in, I was finally in Highgate again and got another disconnect trying to warp back to the crystal veins. I finally got back to the belly of the beast and the instance had reset again. I gained a level after just a few steps and got a disconnect when I opened my passive tree (no, I'm not kidding). I tried logging in one more time and failed. I've given up on trying to get the final waypoint of act 4 for tonight.

Connectivity and performance issues are hardly new for this game, but this is the worst it's ever been. This game has easily the most technical issues I've ever seen in any game I've ever played by far. I've had the other problems mentioned in this forum as well. Like 3.0.0b re-downloading every time I played or, when that wasn't happening, the game loading in windowed mode in the wrong resolution as well as a host of other problems over the past couple of years. It's like a gypsy cursed someone at GGG preventing them from coding a game that works. Seriously, this is getting surreal.
I'm just glad I haven't bought anything from them this season or I'd be really pissed.
Can't enter in maps (for eg, Arcade).
Everything OK on dx9, but i cant play on dx9, too laggy for me.

it's 510am here on the East coast of usa. I've been up trying to play when the load on servers would be the smallest of the day.

With no load to speak of on the serveers the game is still unplayable. Constant crashes, same problem as before.

Down on knees now. GGG please fix your game I really really want to play but it's impossible. You've got to be aware of this problem.
Just switch over to preloading and 64 bit client, it helped me, laggs more, but does not crash too often (around 1 crash per 2 hours).

However the issue with preloading is that it still crashes is you switch instances too quickly, but it only returns to the login screen, arguably less frustrating, than a full restart.

i have a gaming-pc, good graphic card and so on and before 3.0 there wasnt any problem at all with this game, but now:

loading screens!

it begins already as i log in with my acc information and want to log in with my char for the first time, for example in oriath city. then i receive the message " an unexpected disconnect appeared" or so, and im in my log in screen again.

also switching zones takes like 15-30sec and sometimes i get a disconnect and have to log in again

and its 100% not due to my pc
Im still having this DC all the time and now in the Rotting Core its impossible to continue every single time i try to enter dc and the same message about the memory problem. I dont know when they will fix this but is completly unplayable i just cant continue cause i cant fucking enter cause the dc and if i try to play with direct 9 or 9ex my fps are around 10 fps. So please i beg you less sales and fix your game please

Could we stop talking bullshit, this isn't helping at all.

They probably have to work on some core mechanics of the game/server, what is hard enough on it's own.

So could we stop all that 'they will never fix it' bullshit and just try to help out with all the information that we can share, so they find the bug, would be nice.

The whole situation sounds like a freak bug to me and freaks are a nightmare to find in the first place, since you don't know where to start.
i still keep dc after last update

please fix this as it unplayable now, it dc every time i load a new zone
