1) Totem with Wither.
2) Totem with Summon Skeletons.

Just think of it!
1) You sacrifice 35% of Skeletons life to deal 33% FIRE damage!
This fire damage will be reduced by enemy resistance, and you don't take any FIRE related nodes!
2) New skill says it takes some part of Skeletons life to deal CHAOS damage! (the same meaning as sacrifice)!

So questions goes:
Why should i sacrifice 35% of Skeletons life do deal HALF (or more) assed FIRE damage when i can sacrifice this 35% life to cast New skill few more times which will be amplified by all different support gems and passive nodes?!

It's a bit like Guild War's Dark Aura used with a sacrifice spell like Dark  Pact Even shares the same name with one of the skills.

The skill doesn't do damage to you or your skeletons, it instead instantly removes life, so the skill does not work with Cast when Damage Taken and other self-damage setups


That's a shame, it would open up some interesting builds with Vaal Molten Shell and the like, but I suppose it would be very difficult to balance, which is why you've prevented those mechanics.
