[3.1] The Azure Knight Raider (Flurry/F. Blades/Life/Crit/Conversion) (4 min Shaper run)

UPDATE: The thread itself hasn't been updated yet, there are some obvious tree changes like new Vaal Pact etc., for most current version please check latest 3.1 video by Phertux where he shows his passive tree. As he has his fully functional character level 92 in Abyss and I don't, I'll rely on his judgement and experience with the build.
I will update this build guide at some point in the future.

I don't have a character for this version myself, so feel free to add your videos of Shaper/Uber/Guardian runs!
They will be included in the main thread :)

Introduction:
Spoiler
Let me say this first: I don't have a Raider character in Legacy or even Standard. This build was first theorycrafted for the Occultist, but can be very easily converted to majority if not all classes in the game.
Here is a link to the main page of the build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1898845

In the link above, you can find more information about how it works, why certain gear was chosen, alternative gear setups, Frost Blades setup, extra videos, and more.
Even as main page of the build was written with Occultist in mind, 99% of information there applies to Raider as well.

If it is a general question, you might find an anwser in the main build thread, but always ask here if you want Ranger specific advise.

Example videos:
Spoiler
3.1 Raider version:
Shaper run. Performed by Phertux.

3.0 Pathfinder version:
Shaper run. Performed by Hejtero.
Minotaur kill. Performed by Hejtero.

3.0 Raider version:
Shaper run. Performed by Azashke.
Shaper run. Performed by Phertux.

2.6 Occultist version:
Shaper run.
Hydra run.
Chimera run.
Minotaur run.
Uber Atziri run.
Chayula run.

Passives, Ascendancy and Bandits:
Spoiler

Ascendancy:
Core lab points:
- Way of the Poacher: Constant Frenzy charge generation, Frenzy charges are OP.
- Avatar of the Slaughter: Additional Frenzy charge, and more quality to your charges.

Dps version (approx. 15% more dps then alternate version and much higher Evade chance):
- Rapid Assault: Free Onslaught buff for mapping, and against bosses with adds.
- Avatar of the Chase: Massive evasion bonus if you have Onslaught, and double the Onslaught buff. Great dps, speed clear, and defensive node.

Alternate version (36% dodge and 40% spell dodge + elemental status immunity):
- Quartz Infusion: Additional Dodge chance and free MTX effect.
- Avatar of the Veil: Spell dodge, increased damage and elemental status immunity, which includes Shock and Burning, which can make a big difference between living and dying on maps with these effects (mainly Shock).

Example tree level 88
Flask nodes are taken primarily for the mana regeneration, as otherwise movement with Whirlwind Blades might not be sustainable. If you get mana regeneration on your gear, you can potentially drop Primveal Spirit and go for more dps - Fencing is a very good notable with plenty of Crit chance, for example, there's also Heartseeker.
As a Raider, your advantage is super fast movement speed - if your regen isn't good enough, it will just slow you down.

In 3.0, picking Alira reward with flask nodes should be enough to cover your mana needs. If your gear is top tier (easily capped resists), you can take 2 points instead of Alira reward.

Leveling tree:
Spoiler
There is already an in-depth quide on gear and gem progression in the main Witch thread, which applies to this version as well - don't forget to check it out!

Example tree, 38 points.
This is when you will get your Blade Flurry gem and other supports. You might want to skip Winter Spirit if you don't have the gloves, or you can use Physical to Lightning support, take Winter Spirit earlier and use appropriate gems like Elemental Damage with Attacks.
Filling out top part of the tree is a priority at this point, no need to go into Duelist area for now.

Example tree, 73 points.
Get Claws of Magpie and work your way towards Assassination first. From there, the leveling tree is easy, as you just go down towards Duelist area and later get Constitution, before filling up other nodes. You can also take Twin Terrors and Thick Skin before heading down to Master of the Arena and Constitution, like in the link above.

Pantheons:
Spoiler

Major:
- Soul of Lunaris is a great pick, synergizes very good with our defenses. Best mapping choice imo, also increases your spell dodge chance to 35% with Perfect Form, and gives you a chance to avoid projectiles.
- Soul of Solaris is also decent, but not as good as Lunaris, even if Solaris bonus can be better in some rare cases.

Minor:
- Gruthkul is great, as being close ranged character we are getting hit constantly. Additional slow also helps with survivability.
- Finally, Yugul helps us deal with reflect, if this is your main concern. Take it especially if you are playing Frost Blades version.

Gear:
Spoiler
Ignore the gem links, as gear is taken from my Witch version of this build.

Abyssus best dps increase from any non-weapon gear slot, at the cost of survivability.

Starkonja is a lower dps, high survivability option, probably more popular nowadays with 3.0 Abyssus nerfs.

The Perfect Form gives us free 30% spell dodge chance, free Arctic Armour and Evasion matching that of other top tier Unique armours. A corrupted rare 6 link might be better due to a price, until you can afford your own 5-6L Perfect Form.

You could use Belly of the Beast if you don't like relying on rng defenses, you'll lose AA and spell dodge but gain roughly 400 life and resistances.
Carcass Jack is also a good dps/clearspeed choice, same cons as Belly.
(Note: with these 2 options, you can use Damage on Full Life instead of Cold Penetration or Bloodlust support with your totem linked to Chance to Bleed. Is it less practical, since Damage on Full life means no Blood Rage and slower clearspeed, and Bloodlust is a bit clunky against bosses.
However, you will be able to reach higher values in Path of Building, if that is your thing.
)

Rare boots/belt should come with a lot of life and resists on them. Movement speed is unnecessary, it's more of a QoL.

Hrimburn/Hrimsorrow convert the remainder of our damage into cold.

Rare rings/amulet follow the same pattern as boots/belt - you want life and resists. If you can squeeze any offensive stats, accuracy/physical damage/crit multiplier are great to have.

Doryani's Catalyst is BiS offhand, greatly increasing your dps, however that is not included in your tooltip. Other, cheaper offhands include Doon Cuebiyari and Singularity.

Rare claw/Touch of Anquish/Wasp Nest are also BiS for this build. Even though ToA has only around 270 dps, it beats most rare claws with 300 dps or even higher, thanks to cold damage increase and high critical strike chance. Wasp Nest also provides 95% dps of ToA for 5% of the price, so it is superior choice until Frost Blades meta dies off.

Flasks, Jewels?
Spoiler
Please check in the main Witch thread for all flask and jewel breakdown.

Gems:
Spoiler
Attack:
Blade Flurry / Melee Physical Damage / Weapon Elemental Damage / Elemental Focus / Increased AoE or Concentrated Effect / Cold Penetration

Auras:
Hatred
Blasphemy+Elemental Weakness (unless you have gloves corruption, then use Herald of Ash for more dps)
Arctic Armour

Utility:
Cast when Damage Taken / Ice Golem / Blind / Ancestral Warchief
- recasts your golem so you don't have to, allows your golem and totem to blind enemies - massive evasion boost for Raider.

Buffs:
Enduring Cry / Blood Rage / Vaal Lightning Trap
- EC helps mitigate increased damage taken from Abyssus.
- Blood Rage increases dps and leech.
- Lightning Trap increases dps against bosses that can be shocked. I usually forget about its existance - make sure you don't. You can also use Vaal Haste if you prefer.

Debuffs:
Cast when Damage Taken / Frost Bomb / Vortex / Inc. AoE
- chills nearby enemies and applies -20% cold resistance debuff.
You can also use Immortal Call instead of Inc. AoE gem for added survivability.

Movement:
Whirling Blades / Faster Attacks / Fortify

Path of Building code and stats:
Spoiler
https://pastebin.com/dw1eLfrr

Over 5.03 million dps using a 320 dps claw.
Over 4.14 million dps using Touch of Anquish.
Over 3.29 million dps using a 320 dps claw against bosses
Over 2.71 million dps using Touch of Anquish against bosses

Over 6k hp at level 90.
11k Evasion buffed.

Difference from original build:
Spoiler
Occultist can run 2 curses at the same time, Elemental Weakness and Enfeeble. Enfeeble is Occultist's own flavour of Raider's evasion bonus - as a Raider, we can get more % evasion, especially against Blinded enemies, but any hits that connect hurt us more.
Also, we need to kill in order to trigger our Evasion bonus, which isn't going to happen in some boss fights. However, when you do kill (mapping) or against bosses with adds/trash monsters, your higher Evasion will grant you same or higher survivability.

Raider can reach much higher dps values then the Occultist, especially if you prebuff with Power Charges, and movement speed is also a lot higher thanks to perma Onslaught when mapping.

Hi, I like this build. I was wondering if you think is viable to use blade flurry as a main attack, and have a 4 link flicker strike for having fun when mapping? I am considering having 2 pairs of boots with different gems for when I farm and when I boss fight. Other than that, do you think Alpha's Howl would be a better option than Starkonja's?

I've never had a Flicker build before (since my laptop would probably explode, lol), but if 4 links are enough then yeah, you could use a spare pair of boots to swap them around if you like that kind of playstyle. But you can also just replace Flurry with Flicker in your main setup, apart from Inc AoE/Conc all the other gems will work with it. You can have Flicker and, for example, Increased Critical Stikes or Increased Critical Damage in your weapon swap or inventory.

Alpha's isn't really that good for this build, since we don't benefit from reduced mana reservation - I don't think you will be able to run any additional/better auras with it. Overall, you will lose both life and damage (even if your Hatred is socketed in it), but if you are on extreme budget (or just prefer the looks of it), feel free to use it until you are able to afford Starkonja (or Abyssus if you are bold and don't mind occasional one shot like I do).

Hey thanks for the great and quick answer! I was wondering if you'll update if something changes for 3.0, and what do you think is the main difference with your Assassin build? Also, do you have any videos for this build in action? Thanks!

If there are any interesting uniqurs that could benefit the build, or some bigger tree changes I will definately update it, in fact I'm waiting at the moment for the patch notes to update all 3 current build threads + take another look at pathfinder version and finally, long overdue berserker thread :)

Main difference between raider and assassin are this:
Assassin has free cull on crit, meaning you only need to deal 65% of target's up to kill it.
Raider has a lot more mobility, meaning it's easier to get out of danger's way and you waste less time travelling from pack to pack. You also get added defensive bonuses (a lot of extra evasion), making raider a better choice if you are concerned about survivability.

I don't have any raider specific videos, but you should be able to achieve higher clearspeed then in my current videos thanks to higher dps and whirling blades speed .

A lot of crit builds will suffer from the changes, but I think they will give us back charges or equivalent once last 2 acts are out. Damage is still going to be enough imo, even with starkonja you can melt stuff :)

Once patch notes are out I'm going to update all pastebins and stat sections across all threads.

Would this be all g as a league starter?
Yes, it will safely take you to maps, even after nerfs we still dish out a lot of damage :) in the main witch thread there are some videos of me levelling in beta playing ssf if you want a point of reference.
