Not him, but it's close.

Top-end SSDs are around 4800Mb/s write throughput, compared to this pipe of 2000Mb/s. Certainly worse SSDs (or SSDs told to randomly write instead of laying out one big sequential block) would become the bottleneck.

By far the weirdest thing in computing nowadays is getting used to loading things from across the datacenter instead of reading it off of local disk. 10gigE is more throughput than the best SSDs. Shit latency, of course, but it's such a mindfuck/inversion from the way it used to be.

Still coming to terms with it and it's been like this for many years now.
