What why? RT only means we don't deal crit strikes. Crits are really not needed to shock something.

Also, do you really think 400-500 more life from wearing both Roots and Heart is better than the defense and offense you get from the warcries? Because wearing Heart and good rare boots is only around 400 less life than Heart+Roots.

I mean, we are talking about "insanely high life" vs. "absolutely more than you will ever need" life :D

If it was the question between 4500 and 5000 life, sure go for less sockets. But 8500 vs 9000? Nah, get the sockets, use the warcries, get HUGE damage and defensive boosts.

To inflict shock, you need to crit with lightning damage (physical if you have Starforge) or have a passive ability that provides chance to shock (like Brain Rattler). Our Starforge totems do not shock.

As for Kaom's Heart (as Kaom's Roots is already the premiere choice in my opinion), we are running Enduring Cry, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. We're really only losing out on either Rallying Cry or Enduring Cry, most likely the former, along with a little bit of QoL when it comes to our Leap Slam, which could potentially be mitigated with weapon swap. No Rallying Cry means we lose about 5% of our single-target damage. How important that is is up to you. If it was HC I'd take the life any day of the weak.

I edited my last post. And not sure what you are talking about here either. Imho the benefit of both warcries plus the CWDT setup HUGELY outperforms the measly (at absolute maximum) difference of having 8600 or 9000 life.

But hey, to each their own.

And why do you think Roots are the clear choice over Heart? Considering sockets we only really need 4 more, no reason to give up 500 life for them if we can give up 200. I mean, everything else from Roots doesnt do anything for us. We will never get stunned with that amount of life and slows don't matter for a leap slammer.

Maybe we are talking about different things? How would your setup look with both Heart and Roots?

Leap Slam-Faster Attacks-Blood Magic-Fortify is a given. Leaves us with 4 more sockets.

Haste + Arctic armour would be my choice for mana reservation, then Vulnerability self cast. Then I am left with Golem, Enduring and Rallying Cry. We can pick one of those. With rare boots we can pick 2 of them and even fit in the CWDT+IC setup.

That would for me greatly outweigh 400 life on a char that already has 8500 life.

If one were to wear both Kaom's heart and roots, which gem setup would you have to drop?
Is it worth wearing those 2 together?
Or can I afford to wear only one of the 2 due to not enough sockets for gems?

6L Warchief in your weapon
Leap Slam - Faster Attacks - Blood Magic/Fortify - Enduring Cry
Lightning Golem
You have 3 slots left for auras & curses. It's doable. This setup might even be preferable in hardcore, were you to run Arctic Armour + Enfeeble Blasphemy.

Also, in my calculations I mentioned that I didn't include shock in the Brain Rattler DPS, totally forgetting that Starforge has "Your Physical damage can shock". So that falls away and makes the numbers more comparable.

Resolute Technique means our totems do not shock with Starforge. Brain Rattler totems can shock (15%), but its raw damage is simply not large enough to shock a big target like Shaper for any noticeable amount, so it might as well not be taken into account in cases against end-game bosses.

Thanks for the advice, just a bit worried since I figured I would have to drop a cwdt setup, will think about it more as I level.

I already posted my setup in my reply. It runs auras, a war cry of your choice (most likely Enduring Cry), buffs, and your movement options. A 4L Leap Slam is NOT a given. I can very easily not run Blood Magic if I were to be using defensive auras like Blasphemy Enfeeble + Arctic Armour, which I will be if I'm playing HC, also the only time when I'll ever wear a Kaom's Heart. That in mind, just use 3L Leap Slam + Enduring Cry + Golem + Blasphemy Enfeeble + Arctic Armour. This is all outlined in my post 2 replies ago. I can even run 2L Leap Slam and manual cast Immortal Call if I cared enough.

As for Kaom's Roots, I consider being immune to all cold ailments as well as Temporal Chains to be invaluable in terms of utility. You will be abel to forego Brine King and run the sisters' souls instead. It also a less of an opportunity cost than Kaom's Heart, losing you fewer sockets. If it was HC I'll consider taking both. If it was SC I won't need Kaom's Heart for anything.

The CWDT is a bit of an odd ball. You can use it as is, or you can forego it all together and invest in maximum Endurance Charges. At one point I was manually casting Immortal Call to tank Shaper Slams as well, though I opted out of this in the end due to being lazy.

Note that you can also take Soul of Arakaali's Herald of Thunder Pantheon, which gives 50 percent increased recovery of life if you have blood rage enabled, and immortal call procs from your cwdt. Should bump 25% of war bringer to ~33, or from 4 casts to full life to 3 casts.

didnt really think about sockets too much yet, but isnt it possible to just put the leap slam into a secondary weapon with high attack speed and use that one for movement?

Then you have something like
CWDT - Immortalcall - Increased Duration -Enduring/RallyingCry
Aura - Aura - Golem - Blasphemy/BloodRage/Enlighten/Conductivity/Whateverthefuck

might still go for fast movementspeed boots, at least with the mace vesion since leap-slam won't be that great anyway

Regarding the shock:
Yeah it's not really doing anything against shaper etc. anyway, but you also get a little bit shockchance with conductivity (Brain-Rattler-Version)
You don't want your movement skill on weapon swap if your Warchief's in your main weapon too. Often you'd want your movement skill to dodge during fights, and swapping would destroy your attacking totems.
Just thinking about this.

With the conversion build( Brainrattler), any thoughts on using Lightning coil as armour?

It has good defensive qualities and also adds lightning damage which should scale with any WED/% Lightning.

Also, Vinktars would serve some defensive help as well.

am i making sense? haha

QoL = Quality of Life. In this context it means the totems attack quicker after being cast, which improves your life (instead of using another gem which gives more DPS)
