The video shows the whole thing from other players perspective. Relevant quote from 'PawsTTV':

I wasn't screen frozen (as the ranger), the game was closed completely after getting booted to the login screen after internet was cut.

That only proves the character model was there, nothing more, and it can be 6 seconds for you to be removed from the game, the person you are playing with will see you there longer because of latency from you and him.

In case you are serious: Do you have evidence to back up the implied claim that character model A being there (on other players B client with functional connection) does not properly correlate with player A being there on the server?

Disconnect appears to be still one of the main threats:

After Ventrua died that's when everyone started pushing again. Ventrua was honestly, again, likely to get #1 but died to a disconnect. I didn't go full out until 2 days after that all happened, and was somewhat keeping up pace (not likely to win, but at least putting enough pressure to make him uncomfortable) but I also died to disconnect while being about 50m ahead of him.

Bump as this has not been implemented yet and it NEEDS to be implemented ASAP as this would be the single most important fix for the constant crashing. To die to a DC/crash at 90+ in league HC makes one want to uninstall PoE and never look back.

I was thinking it could be an adjustable value between 50-1000 ms (of course, it would be in increments of server 'ticks') whereby client-side establishes a contract with the GGG servers that they will send pre-established "pings" at the player set interval, which if a single "ping" is missed the GGG server will consider the connection lost and immediately remove the player from the game world.

As others have suggested, to avoid players damaging their game experience unwittingly, I recommend it be an option that needs to be either manually entered into a .config file or otherwise comes with a warning when first activated.

For some stats:
Of my 4 85+ RIPs this league;
1x no excuse
2x PC freeze (possibly due to PoE but cannot confirm - PoE is the only application during which my PC will freeze)
1x client crash

I understand my stats may be more biased than most towards crashes/HW failures, but there is certainly a preponderance of HC deaths attributable to how unstable the game client is. As I understand, every patch creates an insane amount of instability - myself I stopped counting the number of crashes in the first 24h of 3.2 after a dozen. There are innumerable streamer HC deaths attributable to client crashes as well. We can bypass the subsequent griefing and uninstalling that occurs by implementing this DC fix.
