Right now, I'm digging the build, and the league in general, but I'm really... unhappy with the beast crafting. I went to check my blood altar to see if I could make anything potentially worth while. Saw I could make an ilvl 68 strength shield with all resists, so I go with it, and get this for my trouble:

The resists are low, but still able to keep myself resist capped pretty easily. Life could be crafted on with no issue, and 29% elemental damage on a shield would be absolutely amazing, except for one thing. Why in the hell did they make it roll an ilvl 68 Plank Kite Shield. The Insignificant Armour and Energy Shield relegate what would be a generally usable shield to the trash bin.
What do you guys think about using Might of The Meek in a jewel socket near Shaper?
I have been playing this build in the new Pokemon league. I am a bit confused by the gem selection. As far as I can see Swift Affliction Support dose not seem to work with RF. When I mouse over the Swift Affliction Support gem the RF gen does not highlight and there is no icon update in the bottom of the screen.

Could some one please have a look and confirm if it does work with RF then why it does not highlight in the screen.

maybe read the general information part of the guide. Spelltotem grants RF a duration tag and swift affliction works then.

Thanks for the quick reply. Great build so far. It my first Totem build I am lvl 50 just started out. I am very new to POE so some questions may seem noobish...Is there a way to add life leech to this build...

Do the gems on that Balefire work like that unlinked? Of course it seems working since you are using them like that but i just wanted to double check before giving currency for one of them:)

and, the "on kill" regens do not work with totem kills i think?

thanks.

This would negate shaper, but grant a bit mana/life instead. I would rather use a rare jewel instead.

no, dots cannot leech in general

yes they work unlinked. the rule of thumb is: Does the item grant an active gem: you dont need to link it. Does the item grant a support gem: you need to link the item (with some exceptions where you want multiple active gems to a supportgem only).

On kill effects dont work usually (ailment kills like ignite or poison work) with totems. Not entirely sure about scorching ray
