Whirling Blades "random" zip-back moves
If the screen is full of mobs and the gameplay becomes somewhat "sloggy" I often get "random" or "zip-back" moves with WB. Somehow the game either "stickies" a previous click target or it uses a mouse position which doesnt fit with the mouse click or sth like that.
It may be that this can be prevented by artificial waiting time before clicking the mouse button - not sure though. Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this deliberately. But it has happened quite often in the past. It may be that connection quality is a major issue here. One thing which can be reproduced - and which may have the same cause - is that with super fast attack speed (speed shrine etc) and keeping the mouse button down close to the char WB does not work properly and will zip back frequently instead. At least if the connection (or whatever is the issue - it could be the server load instead) is not "ultra super fast and stable". I am posting this here now as I just saw someone else desribing sth similar (or the same): Quoting from here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1843683/page/112#p14480591 " Have seen other similar reports. Including claims that only WB (but not Shield Charge) suffers from this. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle! Last bumped on Jun 23, 2019, 4:08:36 AM

Adding here that I am using lockstep - manual selection so its always "on".

That's how the game works. Mouse pointer position isn't synchronized nor immediately registered when mouse moved.
0.75 attack time WB works fine at 40ms latency and start zipping randomly at 90ms+ 0.45 attack time WB (necro-support in party) doesn't work properly even at 20ms. With high attack speed and high latency you starting next WB before the game synchronizing 'new' character-relative mouse position. So basically you need stable 120+ fps and 5ms latency to never face that issue. Problem: impostor syndrome
Solution: nerf everything Result: depressing mess | |
Quoting from other thread:
" I think I had WB problems before I enabled multithreading. -- " Thanks for adding your experiences. They make it clear that there is at least one problem with the implementation and its not all a "user screwed up" or "user is imagining things" kind of problem. " I use right mouse button for WB. So the input method (key or mouse button) does not seem to matter. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Experienced this many times on slower HW.

" And it got better if using better hardware (with the same internet connection/provider etc)? No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Older reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/5lcnqk/probable_bug_with_high_speed_movement_skills/ Not sure if these are all about exatcly the same thing. There are probably several issues with WB. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
