The Fall of Oriath: Monster Preview
New monsters mean new Spectres...
This is it. | |
New spectres which will be useful for 1-2 weeks - if at all - before they are nerfed into ground.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

I always thought Oriath was some near utopia and that is why everyone got kicked off for doing anything wrong, and the templars were just overboard to keep it that way. (I've been playing since open beta)
Clearly, after seeing this, I was terribly wrong. I think I'd rather stay on Wraeclast than Oriath with that nonsense going on |

"if something goes "overboard" it can hardly be called "utopia" And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

" This. I just want to have fun playing a great videogame, not to be confronted with one of the worst scenarios of our history. And yes, I'm german and a christian, so this new design decisions offend me at all. Some may call it a brave decision to make those Oriath monster/enemy designs nazi/catholic-themed. I just call it stupid and thoughtless and it makes me think about if I still really want to play this game.
Of course a military controlled country that persecutes and tortures that which is different would remind people of the Nazis. They are the most well known example of that. Of course that will come to mind.
When I first saw the spoilers I was reminded of Nightwatch from Babylon 5. That in turn was very influenced by Orwell's novel 1984. As for the armbands. A society that would care very much if you are part of a loyal group would want easy identification of people in the group. Armbands are a very practical way of doing so. (This again reminded me of Nightwatch and in turn 1984, before it did the Nazis). While Nazi's were Christian, the Nazi government was very distrusting of the Christian faith (and organized religion in general). Their persecution of Jews was mostly as a scapegoat to help unite the masses. Hence the combination of being a religious state is very different from the Nazi government. Also more Nazi's were Protestant then Catholic. As for the Catholic church coming to mind, they are just the largest branch of Christianity, of course they'll come to mind. If you look at the history of the game, Piety was the original main bad guy. If you ask yourself, when creating a society, what sort of society would create Piety, you get a military controlled state that tortures people and is religious. Whenever you have bad guys that are humans (not demons, not gods, not aliens) there is enough history in the world that those events will look/remind people of some past events. This is not an organized plot, it is just how things are. |

Looks like it will be cool, hope for new diversity of packs and intense action. The challenges will be epic I hope.

I agree with the discussion, don't like the new real world themed dudes, as a person of faith, having cardinal and nun looking characters is a bit unoriginal and offensive. I guess I just wanted more fantasy themed people with cool looking garbs, like a original crazy hat and vestment, not something that reminds me of my daily faith I live.
maybe they can just make them look more spiky.
