Is this build viable in 3.0 ? Thinking of playing this as a starter

Hey guys,
I just started a ranger running this build. Well, I'm trying, that is. Managed to get to a3 cruel but now I'm seriously struggling to proceed. You can find my ranger's current state in my profile (character name yolo mcswagger). How are you guys leveling with this build in detail? I couldn't imagine leveling this as a league starter even though I would love to do that cause I love the play style. Any hints to make the leveling process to 67 easier? I'm new to the game and I could imagine that I overlooked something. Cheers! And thanks for your help in advance. |

" Unfortunately, it is most likely a dead build in 3.0 with Vaal Pact no longer working with Energy Shield... If you want to play a wander you will have to be life-based so take a look at Toma Hawk's Queen of the Forest wander at https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1764075 @tkwondave : Your characters tab is private so we can't see. To change this, go to Home > My Account > Privacy Settings and uncheck Hide Characters tab. When I leveled my character, I was basically just dying all the way to dried lake because I wanted to invest nothing into leveling items since they'll be hard to sell back. I also put minimal passive points into life nodes to avoid having to buy regrets later on. This resulted in my character ending up with 1.5k life in merciless dried lake (yay softcore). Basically my tactic was "have enough dps to kill the major bosses, run fast and don't get hit too often". I've seen people level as wander using obliteration wands, so maybe try that. |

" I would personally drop the Melding energy shield nodes (if you feel comfortable enough) and/or True Strike crit nodes. As for what jewels to use, a cheap one is Static Electricity at the slot near Vaal Pact, and for the rest you have to look for those stats (in order of priority): - % to Global Critical Strike Multiplier - % Increased maximum Energy Shield - % Increased Attack Speed - % Increased Attack Speed with Wands - % Increased Projectile Damage - % Increased Damage - % Increased Attack Speed while holding a Shield - % Increased Lightning Damage - % Increased Accuracy Rating - % Increased Global Critical Strike Chance Try finding at least 3 of the mods in this list and then see if you can find some filler stats. Some "not bad" filler stats : - % to [insert any element] Resistance - Strength - Intelligence - % Increased Area Damage If you want, you can take a look at my jewels on my profile or those of other wanders by looking at https://www.poebuilds.io/builds/sc and searching for characters who use Kinetic Blast gem. This is my favorite build this league, thx so much for it!
I run 4l thunderfist KB and 5l VPower siphon, which i swap to barrage [chain,VPS]=>[barrage,ele focus] on bosses that are hard to just KB. The only issue is 5k ES. This game sadly needs 7k at least not to die to lags/fps etc. |

" It's the Purple Herald effect applied to Herald of Ice, you can also apply it on other Heralds for future characters so it's pretty flexible :) |

" I have 7.7k es wearing Incandescent, Headhunter and Skyforth, but yeah you need quite a decent investment in shield/helm to achieve this. I have a friend running my build who got to 9k es with Incandescent and Skyforth, he had flat es on rings and invested more in es nodes/jewels. So it's definitely possible and also easier with rare boots. Although sometimes even 9k es can't save you from stupid lag/freezes :/ |
