Request for a Japanese Gateway

I cannot agree with this suggestion, much as it would benefit me.

The PC gaming market here in Japan is still quite young and niche, though it is slowly growing. Ten years from now, when Steam has finally penetrated the market to a meaningful degree, relative prices for gaming hardware and software go down, and overall awareness of PC gaming is higher, it may make business sense for GGG to do this. But not now.

And not upon the console release either; the xbox360 had a terrible run in Japan, and there is every indication that the xbone will as well, for mostly the same reasons.

That said, my agreement or disagreement is irrelevant. GGG can easily look at IP addresses and see how many of its players are playing from Japan. This is one of those situations where quality of feedback (as opposed to quantity of feedback) is moot, for those numbers are the only thing that will determine whether it is profitable for GGG to establish a Japanese server.

Sorry, OP, but this thread is not likely to sway their opinion one way or another.

The best we can do is encourage GGG not to create gameplay that doesn't play nice with 100ms pings. Additional trap gameplay, bosses with split-second cues, and burst damage requiring fast reactions are all things GGG should actively try to avoid for the time being, since there is a huge amount of players all over the world who do not play over ideal connections. In this case, the numbers are decidely on our side.

Ok, so about this : No, this is just not, true at all.
I have been playing those last years from Japan ( Singaporean gateway ), lockstep because HC during the last league (forgot to try predictive again this league lol), and networking didn't kill me, neither did it put me in really dangerous spot.

Another problem might be that a huge majority of Japanese people only knowing pocket wifi.
But on a steady, cabled connection : no problem.



However, it would be nice to have a Japanese gateway, I agree.
But I doubt that the demand is anything close to enough yet, maybe one day .... maybe.
