do the +40 dex in radius have to be allocated before socketting the jewel?

Nope! All the threshold jewels have been changed so they don't require you to allocate the stats.
very nice :)
Could you post an example gear or the gear of your chars ?

So you don't need any dex at all in the surrounding area for the agony jewel?
why not take the fatal toxins just right of the void barrier? isnt 50% increased damage with poison useful for viper strike??
A build I would to follow! Help me with what gem to link!! Thanks in advance!
There's something I really don't get. You say your current setup involves melee splash, multistrike etc but the build doesn't have any STR at all ! Not to mention getting those red slots would just be an absolute pain in the butt... That's just nonsense
So i've been following this build (occultist tree), invested quite some currency (6L vaal regalia) and made some adjustments to make it work (dual curse+discipline - meeded some mana reserv etc..), to finally be able to wear the claw (which i spent my last currency on ~100ish c) just to realise those wolfs die after some time ._. not quite sure if increased duration in the claw would work, but the wording lets me doubt that.
also i've been using abyssal cry to help with clearing packs (because melee splash aoe sucks, even with increased aoe) and then i realized the second issue: abyssal cry leaves no corpses behind, so i either can't use my offering, or my abyssal cry - another hickup. :(

these two issues made me think about if it would be worth it to save up for either of those swords, which are expensive like hell.

too bad, this finally could've been the hipster build i was looking for, but meh...
