Legacy League Challenges and Rewards

GGG, I don't mind challenging ... challenges... but can you please change the rewards before Saturday?

Instead of Footprints/bullshit/bullshit

can you do

bullshit/portal/something dope as fuck so we keep your recurring player number HIGH.

You know... probably at least a couple HUNDRED of my play hours last season (breach) was just having a good time trying to get the wings. I KNOW other players did it faster, but that's WHY I was playing so damn long.

So how about something dope as fuck instead of that lame looking portal?

NOT COMPLAINING - I'm just saying if the portal is the final goal then you won't see me playing those extra hours. And YES, those extra hours were when I bought stash tabs, and other MTX and supporter packs.

Come on guys... make legacy league dope as fuck. Don't make it lame.

TLDR: challenge rewards look like shit and PLEASE change them to be super amazing like breach was? I WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME LIKE A FIEND... but I need a reason... I'm only human. Give me something shiny PLEASE

WTF is this crap GGG¿¿¿ I've been supporting you for long time, even defending that you're made the best arpg ever in front of D3 hordes of retards. And now u do this, one of the most demanding challenge table, for a crappy D1-D2 portal like ??? W - T - F , really????

PS: I mean, portal effect always have been 24 challenge not 36

O rly? Essence Portal?
Ugh... I'm tempted to sit this one out as well, like the prior two leagues. And I see I'm not alone... The challenges have gotten HORRIFICALLY grindy. Most are easy, a fair number are fair/good/interesting, but a handful are just plain... I hate to use the term, but... "Stupid." It's clear that they're intended only for the no-life pro streamers, and not even merely "half-decent" players like myself. (that already make up what, only 2-5% of the playerbase?)

I'll go ahead and classify all 40 challenges:

  • Inconsequential/Easy: Use Leaguestones, Complete a Master's Mission, Use These Currency Items, Items From Vendor Recipes, Complete These Normal Quests, Kill these Normal Act Bosses, Master-Craft these Item Types, Kill 50 Monsters Bearing Silver, Touch these Shrines, Level These Masters, Kill These Cruel Act Bosses, Kill These Vaal Bosses, Open Strongboxes, Claim these Essences, Slay the Nemeses, Complete these Encounters I, Fully Upgrade your Hideout, Kill these Merciless Act Bosses, Reach Level 90, Level a Gem to 20, Kill Talisman Bosses, Complete Prophecy Chains, Achieve Ascension. These 23 range from inconsequential to easy enough. Some are actually pretty cool, but mostly just there to put the first two rewards in easy reach; most players should be able to self-find all of them.

  • Trading likely required; It might be possible to self-find these, but RNG can easily say "nope," leaving you to trade/seek help:
    • Kill these Beyond Demons: I love Beyond, yet I've only ever seen Abaxoth spawn all of TWICE. And given his nature, he'll be harder to "share" than other challenges.
    • Kill these Unique Invaders: Likely not as bad to share. But will be a bit too painful to self-find.
    • Kill these Rogue Exiles: Probably self-findable if all of them can be expected to be equally random in the Precinct map. (expect Precinct Map prices to be double other T11s)
    • Kill Packs from these Bloodlines: ALMOST self-findable. RNG may mandate a lot of folks share, but not too bad.
    • Complete these Encounters II: Mostly this is just picking breachstones. Probably build-gated if the "kill 100 Breach monsters" requires it all be on the SAME breach and rampage streak. (my only real possible issue; if it's not that way, then this is 100% fine)
    • Kill Map Bosses with Onslaught: Mostly, this might just be some build-gating/mild sharing. If the Map Device has Onslaught available, (hence eliminating the need for Breachstones) even easier.
    • Complete Unique Maps: Thankfuly, we don't need get all of them. Requiring everyone clear HoG, The Putrid Cloister, Perandus Manor AND Vinktar Square? Still, trading will likely be required to get the other maps.

  • Trade-heavy: These challenges will likely be a major time-consumer, providing our favorite experience of leagues: camping out in Global 820, waiting for shares.
    • Open these Perandus Chests: Back on Perandus, a few of these were a PAIN to get, IIRC the Safe and Locker. Expect lots of #820 camping.
    • Kill These Tormented Spirits: given how much rarer some spirits are, expect sharing to be required. Possibly a lot of "selling" too.
    • Complete UnIDed Rare Maps: Costly RNG, also likely requires help/build-gated. This basically mandates vaal'ing a bunch of guardian maps until you get "UnID'd." And when these maps will be an exalt-plus on Legacy...
    • Kill these Warband Leaders: Chaos leaders are really nasty. Unknown if maps will make it easier to find leaders/will count. If they can cover it, then this will be pretty easy.
    • Complete Twinned Maps & Complete Maps With 8 mods: these two are very much the same; mostly will just get shared, since otherwise the number maps you burn through...

  • The Last ****ing Four: These will likely be the missing four on all 36/40 accounts. The first two I'd just classify as "hard by even PoE standards," the latter two are horrific.

    • Complete the Alluring Abyss: Even if power creep has made Uber Atziri less of a threat, she's still not for all builds... And moreover, Mortal sets are NOT cheap. Do remember that when an item becomes REQUIRED for a challenge, it becomes more expensive than it otherwise would: while mortal sets are currently ~1.5ex on Standard, expect them to be worth MUCH more on Legacy. Wouldn't be surprised if people start selling the challenge for a whole exalt per.

    • Kill the Shaper: TBH, this is build-gating more than anything. Most builds can't really handle him. Also, yeah, with prior challenges driving up the price of T16 maps, naturally shaper fragments will be worth more. (at least the bottlenecking ones like Hydra and Chimera...)

    • Complete 3-League T6+ maps: Um, WHAT?! When I ran Talisman League and got 32/32, I ran a grand total of 282 maps, including ones hosted by other playes. (of which 180 were T6+) Does GGG even bother checking to see how many maps players actually run? No, no they don't. A better challenge would be, say, "Complete each tier 1-16 with at least 3 Breachstones active."

    • Complete four Endgame Grinds: this is the same as above, only even worse. And they even outright INCLUDE the word "grind." Like... 400 Pale Council Members? That's completing The Pale Court *50* times, enough to get every each unique over TWELVE TIMES. Like, at this point, GGG should actually step back and think how much time this consumes, and whether people who aren't pro streamers can even do this. Like, it's not as TERRIBLE, I guess, as "kill Voll in Dried lake 1,200 times" (during which you'd likely complete a full "Brittle Emperor" set or two...) but still, these are figures that not even STREAMERS normally hit. And I'm sure fans will absolutely LOVE watching them repeat-spam the same fight over and over and over. This is worse than Ambush/Invasion's "Own every single Atziri Unique without trading them away" challenge. I don't even know if there's a way to to "fix" this challenge beyond removing it outright. A "complete every single endgame encounter" challenge would be a bit redundant with prior ones, but it's still be much, much better... Or hell, just bring back "Level Zana to 8" or "Identify these exalt-tier uniques" again. At least those were DOABLE without wanting to smash my head into the wall.

    Underwhelming MTX.

So whats with the people who think the awesome looking weapon and footprint effects look bad? They are awesome looking. I mean is this just a case of everything needing to be purple and over exaggerated like the garrish and frankly stupid looking Breach supporter pack MTX's? Which BTW I refrained from buying because they looked stupid. Are you all just jaded like the perv that can no longer get it up unless he's got Tentacle pr0n to look at?

The portal is a throwback look befitting legacy league, so spot on. That weapon effect is pogchamp will look cool af with Chimera Armor set and the glow from Legacy supporter pack. Which BTW I will be buying shortly because it all looks great and no purple/flamey "look at me" hands.

I for one would like to see more MTX's that aren't deliberately Neon colored flashing signs screaming "pay attention to me I am better than you because I paid money/ran 36 challenges"

"only 10% of players care about melee" - Aesop's Fox if he was a GGG dev
"when you die in this game, typically you're getting one shot, you're dieing in one frame; almost always" -Ben_

Seems interesting. Very bland rewards though.

This. Topkek. I would also like to recommend the addition of this challange:

"Defeat a Mexican Racing Snake with an armbar submission, as a Templar, in the shade of a Himalayan Willow tree, with your pants around your ankles, while lip sinking Amazing Grace with your ass cheeks"

Looking forward to the new league. Roll on the 3rd!

But templars doing have pants :p

    Hi GGG

I realise that it wouldn't be right to complain about the cosmetic rewards for completing some of these tiers of challenges because... well... PoE is a free game, made freely available to us... for free :-)

So I'm not going to compain.

I think making the portal affect more easily attainable would be nice. Apart from that, thanks for all the hard work, and please don't let the complainers get to you. The game is free, after all. So they have no right to complain.

    :-)

Well since youre a less-than-1-year player with 0 packs bought, YES, YOU are not entitled to complain, veterans who spent thousand of $/€ I guess their oppinion should have some weight...

No one is complaining about the 12 and 24 rewards, people complain on the 36 because it's an FUGLY portal effect for a really hardcore grind demanding challenge league.
    Meh. So much RNG.

If I get the footprints it will be by accident.
