Spoiler
Youtube Interview Link: TL;DR created by a nice reddit user :) Bandit rewards: will probably be rebalanced somewhat since there will only be one bandit reward now. Most likely case will be Part 2 (acts 6-10) supplementing rewards that you would otherwise have gotten from Cruel and Merciless. Skill point rewards: Part 1 + Part 2 will give the same number of passive skill point rewards, similar to or the exact same as the Cruel + Merciless system we have now. Trials: Current direction is to have the Labyrinth all at Act 3, and different labyrinths are granted access to players depending on how many total trials they've done. May potentially eliminate some areas in the first labyrinth (only) to make ascending less tedious. Resistances: Current plan is to have two plot events in undisclosed acts, each lowering your resistance by 30%. League in 3.0: The first league after Fall is released will likely favor a mechanic that is more dynamic, as in a league that most likely does NOT involve a mechanic similar to Ambush or Breach where player action is required to trigger the league content. Maps: Similar to how maps "start" becoming an option to players in Merciless Act 3, 3.0 will allow players to most likely start maps in Act 10, around the same character level as our current system. Trading: Still under experimentation. GGG is considering data and ideas generated from the trade system in Xbone and China, but are very careful to finalize changes as they understand any of these changes will have far reaching and potentially destructive effects on the current trade paradigm. There will be a "really small" announcement regarding trading that may cause some heated discussion in 1-2 weeks. 2.6: Will have a lot of general rebalancing. Double dipping will not be addressed in 2.6 but WILL be addressed in 3.0. There will be bullet points tomorrow regarding 2.6 balancing changes. There will be more rebalancing in 3.0 beta and 3.0 itself. On the radar are: ES vs. Life, leech mechanics with Life / ES (particularly Vaal Pact), dagger dominance, double dipping. Threshold Jewels: Chris hints they will do something about them. Seems to hint towards new Threshold Jewels. Beta keys: There are none. Stop sending GGG emails asking for one. Discuss!!! EDIT: Changing the Double Dip notes again. Chris later clarified that DD WILL be addressed in 3.0. Last edited by Prizy on Feb 16, 2017, 4:33:56 PM Last bumped on Feb 16, 2017, 7:24:56 PM

Very disappointing if DD mechanics aren't rectified for 3.0 given how long this has been an issue.

I'm still confused about some of the stuff. Especially the trials piece. I figure it will work like 1 trial per level and as you complete those trials a new/higher version of the labyrinth automatically unlocks in act 3.
I'm guessing when leveling, if you forgo getting ascendancies too long, you might actually block yourself out of earlier points since the labyrinth that is active may be one that is harder than your character can actually handle. For example if you find 6 trials and complete them, but you aren't rescapped and you're using medicore gear, the cruel izaro fight might be too much for you even though the normal would be relatively easy. This might also wreak havoc on poelabs.com for their ability to help all of us noobs through the labs. Very interesting stuff indeed. The double-dipping stuff is super interesting as it would seem that hey want to spend quite a bit of time to make sure that double dipping doesn't exist, but relative power doesn't feel "bad" after double dipping is removed post 3.0. I'm prety hype about this shit... what do you guys think the "small trade improvement" is going to be? I hope for the love of god it is poe.trade in game...that would be freaking awesome. | |
Wow. So game balance means jack shit.
What is the point of doing a build that isnt Double Dipping? Get on the DD train. It'll be here for another year! Edit: WHY IS DOUBLE DIPPING SO IMPORTANT AND DISAAPOINTING THAT THEY WONT FIX IT SOON? Content is balanced on player performance. Huge gap between DD builds and no DD builds. Content will be tuned for DD performance since this is what there will be when they release 3.0 (if his words are to be trusted). Edit2: Leading to more one shot bosses and mechanics because the mobs need to put out damage before they get nuked out of orbit. Same shit we have now.
