So trying to decide on a new Helm. Vertex Vaal vs Heretic's Veil...anyone?

" I am no longer using either. The vertex has great ES and is a very nice starting helmet but it doesn't have any resists if you go CI This is my hat and similar ES helmets shouldn't be too expensive this league |

With 3 curses in Heretic or 2 curses + Discipline in non-Heretic, how do you get enough mana to cast flame golem? I think I am missing something
