Huh I thought we were going from patch 2.5.x to 3.0.....? not 2.6

you thought wrong, 3.0.0 is going to need beta testing over and above the internal testing which has not even started yet...should be announced pretty soon, but while beta testing is going on there is supposed to be another set of leagues going

I used to play solo self found with my own builds.

Think ggg pretty much missed the boat on this.

I eventually had to start buying maps in order to make any progress. They drop more now, but a little late on that also.

Nearly every patch nerfed my builds to some degree, not from anything I was doing, or even in the way I was using a skill or mechanic or gear or whatever, but supposedly because somebody else was abusing it.

It became pretty much impossible to make any gains self found anymore.

So I was forced to trade up currency to ex and then to buy gear, or spend years with no improvements.

For builds which were then nerfed even further.

Plus the game itself has gotten harder. Lots of people say its gotten easier, it hasn't - but getting better gear has gotten way easier.

For example, 6 links are common now, I played for my first 2 years without a 6l other than tabula.

I also eventually gave up on my own builds for the most part. I still have one or two that are mine, but mostly I just ended up going with the flow and copying - or you can call it 'following a guide' if you want.

Poe pretty much beat the interest of making my own builds out of me, and its pretty close to beating any interest in it out of me period.

Its been 4 years of constantly being nerfed requiring me to go through a lot of effort to end up slightly less powerful than I was before, over and over.

Even the builds I chose to copy get the living shit nerfed out of them.

For example I got a mjolner drop, so I thought I'd make one of those builds, it had already been nerfed a couple times/ways so it should be ok right?

So I saved up and bought the volls and then worked for a couple few patches to make it stronger, not quite a copied build, but not far off either.

Then mj gets nerfed, double or triple nerfed in fact. Ok, no biggy, they have been nerfing me every patch since open beta, regroup, figure out a change or two, spend some more time/currency and end up a little less powerfull than before, same ol same ol.

Then they nerf the shit out of it again! WTF. Now its pretty much useless, still fairly tanky, just can't kill anything.

Just one example out of hundreds, probably the most glaring, but more or less what has happened to me since poe went open beta.

Always comes with some excuse or another that don't really seem to add up. I believed what they said at first somewhat blindly and I had a lot of faith in poe and ggg. But you can only smack me in the nose with a newspaper so many times until I start thinking its bullshit.

So yeah, I'm in a big hurry to spend a bunch more of my time trying to get any build going decently, much less solo self found.

Oh, and lets keep making it harder and harder to level in the upper end also - want to make sure to put that goal out of reach also.

I still enjoy actually playing poe, but just as something to do once in awhile when I have absolutely nothing else to do.

No point it making any kind of goal, because the rug will get pulled out from under my feet yet again. Without being able to set any kind of goal one loses interest.

Even Charlie Brown eventually quit trying to kick the football.

but at the moment when the patchnotes say "improved droprates for X on the SSF "league"", it's fucked.

It won't so long as it can interact with the core game

One more community separation. On the other hand, let people play the way they want, its good, right?

Except they specifically said they're looking into changing how global chats work to counteract this, and guild chats already span all leagues.

I've only once traded... and that was to give away an item that the trading community valued and I personally would never use.

I'll sign on as SSF, but I don't think I'll ever use the functionality of it. Who cares what other people think about me? Not me.
Put smart loot then we are talking
I'm having mixed feelings about this...
You said they want to incentivise it but idk how. Might be good (like balancing unique drop rates / currency drops around it) or it might be bad (Like HUR DUR 30% more quantity on everything) the latter getting old very fast.
Also "Challenges" that don't give you anything and nobody can see them? How is this different from me playing SSF on standard? I get that the point is self indulging but when every skill is op and a screen wide circle where is the challenge?

The way I would do it is by adding in a new UI feature at the char creation screen wit for example 3 options ( or more ):
1) Self found
2) Solo
3) SSF

1) and 2) getting a bonus drop rate for example and SSF getting the sum of the 2.
This doesn't have to be limited to 3 options. For example "no currency trades" could be an option along wiht "no maps" and "no gear".
A little challenge that I did for myself this league is to start CI but I have to CRAFT every part of my gear. I chanced a skyforth (after going broke for scours + chances) and alteration crafted the rest. That could be an option too.

SSF in its core is a personalised experience meant to remove yourself from all the quality of life improvements and grinding for days to get an item that costs 1c.

Some people find this appealing but to a certain extent. I believe that this needs to see at least SOME variation from player to play to appeal to a larger audience of the PoE community. Otherwise it's just bact to the next purple league.

I'm almost 100% certain that an extremely low amount of people will play on the current SSF rules especially if the rules are set and unbending. Not to mention the influx of new players we will get with the Xbox release.

We will see in time.

Oh and Chris, please man... Re-do the mtx pricing. You will make more money if they sell for cheaper. When you get a player to make that 1 initial purchase he will buy even more. Trust me on this I'm a free market merchant both as an occupation and as a hobby in PoE i guess. (Although much simpler)
All this fixing trade thing makes me laugh.

Can they fix trading? yes easily.

Do they really want you to clear you stash faster? No.

Think about it.
Nicee!! thanks!
