[2.5/2.6] Beginner's Elementalist Dual Flameblast Totems

If we could forego an AoE cluster then, off the top of my head, I would say you might still want to get the 30% Area Damage total in that cluster right by the Witch's starting point, but can maybe skip out on the rest, and use it to either get more fire damage perhaps pathing up to Heart of Flame and/or some more life by going down grabbing Heart of the Warrior (and possibly Warrior's Blood). You might even consider trying for Totemic Zeal or Ironwood. Entirely up to you! A few good options are available to you. Hope this helps!

I think I'm going to try foregoing the area nodes just to see how it works. I'll report my progress. Specifically, I'm going with this tree:
It drops the area nodes, Heart and Soul, and also Juggernaut in favor of the Warrior's Blood region, Dynamo, and Mental Rapidity. That gives me some cast speed and a bit more life, mana regen, and elemental damage. I could also retool to pick up more damage instead of cast speed if I wanted, heading to Heart of Flame. Or I could go Elemental Overload and try to build up my crit chance.

Missing out on the area damage seems like a big deal, but since it doesn't double-dip like elemental and totem damage it hopefully shouldn't be as much of a loss as the straight numbers suggest.

What do you think?

PS. What jewel would you recommend for the slot?

Area damage doesn't double dip with ignite from area skills anymore?

Oh... I always assumed it didn't, but I guess it does. Back to the drawing board, then...

So, in theory you could totally transition Elementalist to a crit based CI dual/selfcast flameblast. This looks quite promising and very interesting to play around with.

Yes, this build has a lot of potential and I cruised to merc dried like with 2.3k life and 700 ES with a 1 chaos 5 link. Easiest leveling experience I ever had. I would like to go CI eventually tho and stay as elementalist, just as not to play templar. What would you suggest? Thank you.
Arround what level should I stop using firestorm, and go for the totem setup ?
thanks! very nice build!

What about dexterity in your build? As far as I can see there's only one node in dexterity, and it's required to use the Lighting Golem. Right now I have 2 rings that raise my dex, but on higher levels (53 right now) it's gonna be a waste of slot. What do you recommend, should I drop Lighting Golem or focus on items that raise elemental res. + dex?

EDIT: Forgot about the most important thing - Carcass Jack, requiring 96 dex. How am I supposed to get that amount of dex when all my items are supposed to be elem. res. + life?

You can pick sacrifice some other nodes to pick up a few dex nodes until you can cover it with gear. Expertise is on your path, as well as the precision cluster, which actually adds cast speed, which is very beneficial for this build.

The best thing to do is get a few pieces of gear with +Dex on them to cover your Dexterity needs though. You get more than enough Str and Int through the tree.
Atziri down with templar though.

Gear: (mind you helmet is upgraded already so I didn't have enchant when doing the run)

Spoiler

Hello again. I have no Jack, but I'd like to see your opinion on some other (ran across) unique chestpieces.

Soul Mantle is a glass cannon option, but I don't know yet whether being cursed 24/7 makes up for the benefits.

Cloak of Flame is, as I've read, a poor man's Lightning Coil, a better option for survival. However, is it worth it in comparison to more Life (or some less Life plus Endurance charges?)
