[2.6] LowRes' Elemental Machine Gun Frost Blades Raider [Cheap]
Decided to test this out before the reset (I am playing Standard).
Found, like most, that the clear speed, even unoptimised, is quite insane. However I felt that the price for this clear speed was that performance vs. map bosses was too compromised for my liking. What I have come up with is the following modifications: Changed to mono lightning a) Dropped HoI for an Empowered Wrath b) Added Lightning Penetration as my fifth link. c) Spec'ed out of Charisma. Those six points can be better used elsewhere. You don't need the cost reduction with this setup and +6% aura effect is not worth six nodes. LPen is so good vs. bosses and I don't really see an reduction in clearspeed. Changed to mono Ewar's + ele Foil My Reason behind this is that the Chain from Ewar's must contribute significantly to the clearspeed, where as the +1 proj must be a marginal benefit at best. An elemental foil obviously has a lot more pure DPS than Ewar's thus the single target damage would increase. Furthermore I can now switch to Double Strike (remember to swap Foil to your main hand!) vs. bosses. Switched from Belly to Coil More of a personal choice I guess. But I definitely feels that the implicit phys reduction from Coil comes in handy, especially vs. bosses. As Darkray's grant 40% Lightning Res. the penalty from Coil can be managed if you have decent res gear without giving up too much DPS potential. You will probably have to give up an accuracy craft or two though. I will definitely give this another spin in 2.6.0. With the changes coming to that part of the passive tree this build could even get a boost in the new patch. The announced change to Thick Skin pathing is already freeing up one skill point and the upcoming elemental cluster sounds promising. Heck even the new Arcing Speed cluster might be worth investigating as well. [Standard league - UTC +2]

" Interesting too :) |

" Very cool, I like these changes. I ended up throwing in Lighting pen as well and it made a huge difference. I'd like to try a full phys to cold version of this build with lots of cold pen and see how it performs. It wont be my first build in this legacy league though. " Technically, yes for Shaper and T16, and by Technically I mean any build can do those encounters with godly mechanical skills. Uber, not so much. You'll need to change your gem setup so multistrike doesn't hit the mirror add during the split phase. If you're looking for a build to cheese these encounters, this isn't the right one. You'll want something with 10k+ ES and a skill that can using conc effect or slower proj to boost your single target to crazy levels. |

this build is good for starter build and farm currency for meta?:D

" Yes, I used this build to farm for my HoWA Blade Flurry build in Breach. Leveling is easy once you get Ewar's and they'll carry you to red maps. It great for farming maps, and It's a nice alternative to Pizza totems or other meta leveling build if you're tired of them. However, if you want to make your currency by farming bosses (Atziri, Shaper, etc), I would choose something else. |

thx. i need only for start and farm currency:) i use your build i like frost blades:D
Frost Blades now has 60% Physical to Cold conversion (previously 40%) any change for tree in 2.6? Last edited by armanii84#3356 on Mar 2, 2017, 3:16:34 AM

First, thanks for the amazing guide. I've played your dual Ewar's Frost Blades Raider to level 88 in Breach, and the leveling and clear speed was amazing. :D
I've also played Ziggy's HoWA ranger to 93, and was wondering if it would be possible to kinda combine the two, especially with the new elemental damage nodes in the ranger area of the 2.6 tree. My plan was to go for a CI non-crit version scaled with Elemental Focus and Elemental Overload, running 1 HoWA and a shield. Using some old and not too good gear from my HoWA ranger and a failed BladeFlurry Assassin, I get some pretty impressive numbers from Path of Building. L19/Q0 gems:
Melee hit
Icy Blades
L20/Q20 gems:
Melee hit
Icy Blades

Socket next to Charisma: Fertile Mind Socket next to Fervour: Static Electricity All in all, this looks almost too good, and I'm wondering if I've missed something obvious why this version wouldn't work. |

Made this with the 2.6 Skill tree. Almost 200% life, 100% convert to cold dmg with FB. |

" Hah! I also ended up playing HoWA after my Frost Blades build. Although, I played my own variant with Blade Flurry and got my first Shaper kill! Looking at your build, I would avoid Projectile Damage nodes if it will save you pts. Projectile damage only affects your aoe damage (the projectiles that split off) and you'll have plenty of that. |
