[3.8] Arly's Ice shot bower
Introduction: The goal of this build is to clear maps as fast as possible and be able to do guardian and Shaper level content. This is not a beginner friendly build and not recommended if you have never played PoE before or never taken a character to at least level 90. This build can be played as a raider or a deadeye but the latter is chosen here.
Pros: - Strong as a league starter and extremely cost effective - One of the fastest clear speeds in the game with around 1:30 minute guardians and 4 minute shapers with enough gear investment Cons: - Evasion and acrobatics are rng based not as reliable as hard mitigation - Slower power ramp up compared to spell casters during act content - Requires good flask managment and good reflexes to play effectively Build video : ===============3.10======================= Level 96 - 2:00 A8 Sirus ===============3.7======================= Level 92 - 1:23 minute T16 hydra clear ===============3.5======================= Level 92 - 4:35 minute Shaper clear ===============3.4======================= Level 91 - 3:38 minute Shaper clear - elehit ascendant ===============3.2======================= Level 96 - 4:00 minute Shaper clear ===============3.1======================= Level 96 - 3:43 minute Shaper clear Level 96 - 1:14 minute T16 Minotaur clear Level 96 kinetic blast - 1:00 minute T16 Minotaur clear ===============3.0======================= Level 93 - 1:39 minute T16 Lair of the hydra clear with hyper optimized setup Level 93 - 3:48 minute Shaper clear with hyper optimized setup ===============2.6======================= Level 93 - 1:19 minute T13 Gorge clear Level 94 - 2:03 minute T16 Lair of the hydra clear ===============2.5======================= Level 92 - 4:15 minute T16 Lair of the hydra clear ========================================= Bandit quest: 2 passives Passive tree: Passive tree link Ascendancy: Gathering winds -> far shot -> richochet -> endless munitions Path of Building Import: Import Data 3.8

How to build gear
Itemization: 0. You should aim to get as much life as possible on every rare gear slot. Never try to self craft gear unless it's your enchanted helm in which case you can use the alt regal approach. The way you should construct your gear set is to first decide where to put you intel (you will need a total of at least 71) - I strongly recommend you put them on your boots and amulet. From there, based on the resists of your boots and amulet, allocate cold resist on your helm, then fill the rest with your rings and if applicable, belt. 1. Start off with a 5 link rare armor (level 45+) and buy a 6link corrupted chest with GGGBR sockets and life (level 68+). Your end goal should be either belly of the beast for defense or a hyrri's ire for offense but you can really use which ever unique armour you prefer. Alternatively you can use a rare chest or a rare elder chest with crit chance for attacks. 2. Chin sol is the most cost effective bow for this build. It can be used as an offhand single target swap if you want to use death's opus for better clear speed or Windripper for IIQ as main bow if desired. 3. You will need a total of at least 77 intelligence to upkeep level 20 elemental focus and critical strike chance (81 intel for level 21 gems). I recommend putting int on your amulet and rare boots but having a bit on a jewel is viable as well. For your helm you will eventually want one with barrage projectiles and potentially -9 cold resist to nearby foes but it is not crucial. Additionality it is wise to initially designate some of your cold resist to your helm because a fossil helm with -9 cold resist will often have cold resistance. 4. You have must a belt with the following mod: reduced flask charges used (16-20%) and ideally also increased flask duration (10-20%). Flasks are extremely vital for this build. A belt with these affixes make a huge difference in game play. Having such a belt will let you use your Quicksiler flask three consecutively times instead of two. Ideally you would want to use a stygian belt end game and HH if you are able to amass great wealth. 5. You will need a small amount accuracy 100-200 from gear (including implicit accuracy gained from dex) ideally placed on a jewel. Aim for 100% hit chance (3000 total accuracy). Ideally put this a jewel. If you use hyrri's and headhunter you may not need any accuracry from gear. 6. Gloves should be tombfist with one abyssal socket and later the same but with a frenzy charge corruption. Two abyssal socket gloves are very expensive and not at all worthwhile. You must of course put a murderous jewel in here. 7. Amulet should have critical strike multiplier ideally and as many dps affixes as you can fit in it. This is a great place to put intelligence and you should also try to get as much total life here as possible. 8. Quiver should have critical strike multiplier ideally and as many dps affixes as you can fit in it. Spike point gives the most barrage dps but penetrating will improve clear speed. Ideally you should not no put resists in this slot if possible. End game you will want a quiver with an open suffix and no innate critical strike chance so you can craft chance to gain frenzy charge on hit. 9. Rings will fill the rest of your missing stats and tend to be the most flexible part of your gearset but try to have them have either maximum life % or damage modifiers like WED or flat cold damage if possible. This along with your amulet and quiver will be your biggest source of gear dps. This is also the best place to try to get chaos resistance and to craft +1 endurance charges which gives very valuable physical damage mitigation. 10. Dying sun will be your most important flask and while expensive will improve but ST and clear speed. You can use Atziri's promise prior. Gear progression will look like this if you are on trade league - rare gear such as boots and quiver you should be progressively upgrading: 1. 10+ Storm cloud 2. 35+ grove bow with physical damage (rustic sash recipe) 3. 45+ 5 link armor (2chaos) 4. 56+ thicket bow with physical damage (rustic sash recipe) 5. 68+ Rush 5 link chin sol (jeweler’s touch – buy asap at under 20c) 6. 68+ link corrupted armor [GGGGRB] – switch to ice shot/barrage after uber lab 7. Jewel with anti Corrupted blood 8. alchemist QS of adren (6-10c) 9. +1 frenzy tombfist (20-40c) 10. Dying sun (1-3 ex) 11. Barrage helm (20-60c) 12. Windripper 5-link (2 ex You can skip WR if desired and use chinsol 6L) 13. Cinderswallow with crit (1 ex) 14. Windripper 6link (4-7 ex) 15. Belly (4-5 ex) or life chest 6link (2-4ex) or hyrri’s ire (4-6 ex) 16. Watcher’s eye with flat hatred 17. Brutal restraint (extremely expensive and only if you are swimming in exalts) Enchants: Boots: 12-16% increased attack and cast speed if killed recently for general clear (ideal enchant) 8-10% elemental penetration if not killed recently for boss killing Helm: Ideally +1 barrage projectiles Gear Affixes: Flat physical damage is absolutely useless for this build. WED/Flat elemental damage (mainly cold) is useful for this build and provides a large dps boost. Critical multiplier and attack speed are also huge sources of dps and you should try to have the former in any gear slot that can get it. Jewels: Jewels should have 5-7% life and either resistances or dps affixes. Ideally 5-7% life and 6-8% attack speed with bows. alternatively you can opt for abyssal jewels with 20+ life and flat cold or flat elemental damage and attack speed if you've crit recently. You must have one jewel with (5-6%) blind on hit and another with anti corrupting blood. A watcher's eye with flat hatred will be one of the last items to complete the build. Some examples of jewels to look for: Flasks: You will need a diamond flask with warding and chemists affixes and either a chemist silver flask of <suffix of your choice> or cinderswallow. Having the chemist prefix is a huge QoL improvement when combined with a reduced flask charges belt. Your quicksilver flask should be an alchemist of adrenaline. Well rolled flasks and a reduced flask charges (16%) used belt are vital are to this build. A panicked eternal life flask of heat combined with the upgraded Ryslatha patheon allows you to recover nearly all your life when used when your life is low. Final setup - you will use an atizir's promise before dying sun and a generic chemist's silver flask with staunching (if you dont have a corrupting blood jewel):
Bow dps comparison
Total barrage DPS wise this is the breakdown with a nearly perfect and optimal setup: Perfect Chin sol: 1.53 million dps (only at close range) Perfect legacy death's opus: 1.25 million dps Perfect legacy reach of the council: 1.17 million dps Perfect death's opus: 1.13 million dps perfect legacy Windripper: 1.13 million dps perfect Doomfletch's prism: 1.07 million dps Perfect The tempest: 1.02 million dps Perfect storm cloud: .979 million dps perfect voltaxic: .879 million dps In summary: Chin sol is going to the overall best bow for this build. Death's opus is going to be the best bow general clear almost beating out even a perfect double legacy reach of the council but Chin sol will however do 34% more damage. Both bows will work well for this build. Even modest options like the tempest will still be fairly competitive.
Inventory management
I would recommend even people with 100 stash tabs to play like they only had 10-12. The vast majority of players tend to store more than they really need and it negatively impacts gains/hour in the long run if you're spending time micro managing or repricing low value items. Price items to sell and sell them quickly. Good inventory management means more time spent playing which translates to more exp and loot over time. Below is how I organized my stash tab. 1. maps (quad tab) 2. currency tab 3. sales - ALL of my sales go here - maps, rares, etc 4. div cards 5. quality gems 6. essences 7. imbued wands ilvl 84 8. armour helms ilvl 84 9. t6-t9 maps to be sold as chisels 10. t10-t11 maps to be sold as chisels In time I will delete 7 through 10 as they become obsolete.

Is this good as a starter build ?
I am looking at this one and the Explosive Arrow build. Your build seems to play faster and looks more fun. Is it just a fast farmer or good at all endgame content like Shaper/Ubers etc ? Sorry for the noobish questions. |
|
" This is a good starter but not as easy as flurry or totems. You can get it to do shaper and ubers but its much better as a hyper map clearer. If you want to do shaper grinds try poison builds before their nerfed. IGN: Arlianth

What are you during for leech? Vinktars?
|
|
" Yes, and the leech cluster near duelist. IGN: Arlianth

Do you know if that cluster work if you convert 100% of phys dmg to ele? - With LA + signal shot quiver ect?
|
|
" That cluster leeches on all attack damage even if it is pure elemental. So yes. IGN: Arlianth

Thought of using lightning pen gem instead of probably inc crit? Might be better dmg, no?
