Frost Nuke [Frost Bomb Traps / Hrimburn]
This is a build I made when ascendancy came out. It was interesting to play and I felt it was pretty unique.
Thought i'd share it since the fated unique Hrimburn puts a new twist on it by synergizing Rapid Decay. Not really going to make a guide because I haven't actually made the character again. This is more an outline idea for anyone who wants to take a shot at the build. It hits the whole screen like a sixteen wheeler and is fun to play since you have to engage enemies while waiting for the bomb to go off. Build is focused around lowering and penetrating resistances by around 200% and scaling damage through critical. Orb of storms is our debuffer, it will be linked with CoH, Elemental Weakness, and Frostbite. With elemental equilibrium and along with Frost Bombs inherent debuff, we will be lowering elemental resistances by 170%. With penetration this becomes even lower. (Penetration works like -% resistance once they are below 0) Has a nice flow to it, each pack kill is like throwing a grenade. Combos can be done by staggering trap throws and using lightning warp to proc orb of storms in between explosions. Since there is a delay before dealing damage, you have to juke around. Temporal Chains blasphemy will help a lot, but it can still be a challenge (which is fun imo). Single target can be an issue sometimes, but if you don't mind a longer engagement time, it's still very fun dealing with (some) bosses. Many of them will be frozen outright and you'll be trying to work your 'combo' in the right timing to keep them frozen. (Rough tree) Uniques: Warped Timepiece - Less duration -> less standing around. Hrimburn - Cold damage can ignite! Doedre's Damning - +1 curse, could be replaced with any other source of additional curse. Sunblast - Optional, but helpful. Clever construction can be dropped with it. You'll definitely want 0.0 duration traps though, which will require one cheap construction with a good warped timepiece. Singularity could be interesting, though I think doryani's is probably better. Gem Setup: [6]Frost Bomb, Trap, Cold Penetration, Less Duration, Rapid Decay, Added Cold --- Trap gets rid of pesky cooldown and one time use. Also makes us immune to reflect. --- Less Duration & Rapid decay are required for smooth play, and increase burning damage without reducing duration! [4]Lightning Warp, Less Duration, Rapid Decay, Faster Casting --- Nice movement with warped timepiece. Better than most movespeed boots, they are optional with the amount of reduced duration we will have. [4]Orb of Storms, CoH, Elemental Weakness, Frostbite --- Our applicator of elemental equilibrium. Massive cold resistance debuff. [4]Lv. CwDT, Vortex, Blade Vortex, Knockback --- Blade vortex knockback is just my favorite for ranged builds. Could drop vortex and give it +AoE or duration. [2]Blasphemy, Temporal Chains [1] Aura/Arctic Armor --- Arctic armor works really well with lightning warp movement. [1] Golem (May not want a golem, so that assassin 'full life' effects can be utilized) A kid with a magnifying glass. . . looming down on the anthill. Eventually one is going to get you. Howdy, did this build myself and stumbled across this when I'd finished nailing everything down more or less but before starting the character, it was handy having something to double check. I ditched the Hrimburn/Rapid Decay combo and just went full crit though. Anyway, link here.
