The lifepool definitely got me scared. Some fights i can see being near impossible because no matter how much player skill is involved there is still lag and huge outgoing damage.
Fighting Atziri on my 6k hp Marauder with insane attackspeed+life leech is still scary enough during clones phase, i can only imagine doing it on this build with sub 3k hp is probably the scariest shit ever.
Im still going to be doing this build for legacy league but i imagine its going to be a short honeymoon once i reach Merciless+Lab+Atziri+Izaro.
I saw these and had to make another post. Remember with that video it was done to prove a point more than anything. You should easily end up with more than that for life. I've just had lots of people say it can't clear endgame maps and wanted to show newer and older players alike that you can just read something and believe it. That video was made with only about 150 flat life from gear and only 60 some odd strength on gear and it is not a configuration I would recommend to anyone unless they have a ton of experience dodging damage with the mouse rather than ingame defenses.
Izaro in Merciless was harder back in the day, he has since been a much smoother fight since 2.4. Atziri goes back to the knowing the fight and having good mouse dodging skills, much like if you were fighting Uber Atziri, most builds will need to manually dodge rather than rely on health pools taking the full hit.

I was thinking of starting the new league with this character but i have couple of question i would like an answer.
If this is a cold/bow/evasion build why not use "Flashfreeze", "Phase Acrobatics" and "Heavy/Deadly Draw"
Heavy draw doesn't seem to be that good, at least in this build, but those others seem to be good and they are right next to ranger starting tree.
Also it seems only life leech in this passive tree is "Vitality Void" so is it enough for "Vaal Pact" or should i get more life leech on my gear?
There might be an obvious answer to these questions but i am quite new so i would appreciate an answer.
Tree is still subject to change until I can get some testing done. Even though the tree itself is rather similar, there are a few bonuses in there we have never had before, like full conversion.
The life leech I've never had a problem with because its volley damage is so high that it generally refills life just fine even after a big hit. Like in the video if you slow it down during a part where I hit a reflect or get hit hard and lose half my life, if I didn't use a flask the next hit brought me right back to full.

Hey guys, I am thinking of going Ice Shot as league starter on legacy and I wanted to discuss a few things I am not knowledgeable in (and wiki wasn't enough for me to understand). So, here goes:
0) I am thinking of going Deadeye for the additional projectile and chain. I am thinking of not using GMP once I have all the ascendancies and try to make it with 4 projectiles + 1 chain. If it doesn't work out I will move the gem back in.I will be using Death's Opus and Lioneye's Fall, eventually. I will be going for the 100% cold conversion with passive tree + the built-in from Ice Shot.
Here is the tree I am thinking of. Depending on the answers I get to my questions I might make some changes.
http://poeplanner.com/AAYAAO0iGwB0m40ILu2DGY4AXtN-fXX-urvjxKKn1P7IoaTh2wYjexQV8JLzXkX6642_1CNRRzB8fys51KCfh3ZKfVuvIXaGzsEzBfmbJs96IurDOio451Qk_f_ejX0j9k2StUjUQoRvdf0WvyaVYeJVS4w2idNwUjY9napsjGKs44QN0WNDMfp292HrelPuDv1ujbmBrORqqXndRmOnEYEUdcjM74_fb2eg459W-nfXft14-TOSQxOyGTIBBbUajVsmf_vC7LTFFf2NgcGgeBlvV21s7LCMC7l8Kgtd8g5Iz14VQ-m98LsT2rEBcUNl0wAAMQMAADIBAgIAAwIAB6QBAAAEAhEAAQwBAQADBAAJAgECAQADBAMDBAoBAQADARAAAwAAAA==
1) How do increases to physical damage affect your actual damage? I read that conversion happens before any damage increase calculations, so does that mean increases to physical damage are completely wasted?
2) If I intend to almost always crit (high crit chance + diamond flask), is any chance to freeze from tree/gems almost useless? Does this chance to freeze bypass the need to deal a % damage of the target's HP in order to freeze them?
3) What do you think the best way to generate Power and Frenzy charges will be considering my setup (see 0)?
edit: Added a skill tree and a bit more info.
This really feels glass-cannon-y as all hell. It will probably clear even high tier red maps just fine but will absolutely struggle at bosses where manual avoidance is extremely difficult (Malachai, Shaper, Chimera, Kaom, Daresso, Hydra). I am reasonably sure I will be going for something else to farm the end-game once I get enough currency.
0A)I actually like this tree and wonder how it will work out, though with Lioneye's Fall taking the only jewel socket I would probably take another. Also if you don't like only four projectiles with Death's Opus I would only use LMP since it has a lower penalty than GMP and gives you what Reach of the Council had.
1A) I used a Lightning Arrow with a Phys to Lightning gem to get full conversion and added PPAD and it did increase my damage, as well as I removed Aspect of the Lynx which has Phys damage of attacks increase and a small crit chance and lost some damage. Until tree reset the only nodes I am currently concerned about with this is from Coordination to Fangs of the Viper as they increase just phys damage without specifying any particular damage.
2A) I'm going to assume you are talking about the nodes down by Primeval Force. Everyone has different gear and rolls so some may not get perma crit which a small chance to freeze on the side can help with. Also it has chance for Ignite which we do have on fire damage Blast Rain. Add any lightning damage to attacks through gear and that will give you chance to shock. Its another playstyle choice, if someone feels that 4% increased WED is better than its fine, but I like having extra chances.
3A)Power charges will come easily from HoI and curse on hit Assassin's Mark, Frenzy is another story. Best option in my eyes is Ice Bite because its autopilot kill things and you get them. Though I was looking into the option of Doedre's Damning and adding Poacher's Mark. As this build now has a ton of interest I have tons of things to test so any help from others who had ideas is greatly appreciated.
Last note: Yea it will struggle against certain bosses with small rooms or cluttered rooms but it does good with map bosses who don't have rooms and clearing the map which will help get currency for a boss killer so you don't have to spec the boss killer build to clear as well.

Hi guys,
First of all, props to Xenovenom for keeping my build alive and the excellent answers to all the questions! Seeing the forum post "explode" shortly before 2.6 is pretty sweet :)
I have to acknowledge in_your_FACE before I let more questions come in. Long ago he started what became my favorite build and I'm honored to maintain it. Also thanks for all your help by replying to some of the posts, they did just flood in all of a sudden and its taken a lot of time to keep up with them. (Especially since I have another guide to keep up as well, though it has gone quiet since the melee nerfs)

I agree, this tree looks pretty nice. Since you us the Lioneye's Fall jewel, it seems like a waste not to pick up Claws of the Pride node. Dmg, crit, accuracy and crit multi.. Just not sure if it will count since the medium range of the jewel might just not get it.. If it DOES, then the tree has to swap some points to stay efficient, like for instance http://poeurl.com/7kW You'd get 2 more jewel slots too where you can get more life and crit / proj dmg, etc.

There is a lot of inefficient pathing in the passive tree in this guide.
Ice Shot is super hard to build for in the passive tree so I cannot say "this is the way to do it" but it is not hard to see there are a lot of mistakes in this tree. However the Power charges are 100% not worth it. The route towards Harrier, True Strike and Hired killer are also not worth it. Not bad points but all in all not cost efficient. Especially not in a very passive point starved build (which this is).
I would recommend going for Raider or Pathfinder instead of Deadeye. I love Deadeye but the bleed effect requires some physical damage which Ice Shot does not have (with the new conversion nodes it's 100% conversion). The bleed effect and crit multi / crit chance can be utilized by the Blast Rain single target but all in all both Raider and Pathfinder should be better choices for utility, clear speed and damage (you have 0 frenzy charges. that is a big deal in terms of damage and Far Shot does not make up for it).
Even with 1 frenzy charge from bandits and 1 from raider and 0 from passives it's still a constant 20% more multiplier with attack speed and movement speed. Better than Far Shot.
Pathfinder is also a solid option with Master Alchemist, Veteran Bowyer and Nature's Adrenaline. Penetration.
The 6L Ice-Shot gem setup is also inefficent.
Let's just assume you still want GMP and Chain and you scale of physical dmg.
Then you want IS - GMP - Chain - WED - PPAD - 6th link which could be either ICS or FA. You can swap out PPAD with FA if you already 1-shot packs but remember you have 2 x less multipliers in this setup.
WED is a total no-brainer. It has one of the highest multipliers in the game (if not the highest?). A total must have.
Gear section:
You don't really go in depth with one of the most important concepts when it comes to itemization: Opportunity cost. You list the wrong dps stats (WED and accuracy are very important for your build since you are low on both). Also you don't want 135 resist on merciless. You want at least 165% resist because you want to be overcapped for elemental weakness. Even with VP reflect becomes quite dangerous if you are not overcapped.
Some of the uniques you mention are right. Some are not. Queen of the Forest does not work with your build without Grace. Atziri's Step does not work without sacrificing either gloves or helmet as dps helmets since you need the resistance. However they are cheap and +1 frenzy charge is easy to get from them so they can also grant you a small dps boost.
Flasks - 2 healing flasks are okay if you aren't comfortable running with only 1. 3 other flasks should at least be 1 Quicksilver (as you mentioned) and a Diamond Flask. Atziri Flask is also a good choice since it grants some leech which is nice with VP. It's a good choice in some builds but in this build it seems like a bit of a wasted flask spot. Maybe a good choice with only 1 healing flask.

You deleted 1 power charge form tree and alot of inc crit and mult crit, so it was (295+292)/97 and now only (140+202)/85. Isn't it very low crit chance increased?

Yes, you do not level it further. You can set your own X/Y/Z maximum levels, exact numbers does not matter, however you should consider two things:
1) The more you level CWDT, the more damage needed to be done to you to activate CWDT, so you should not set it to low to not proc it every trash pack and do not set too high, so when you CWDT activates, you should still have chance to survive.
2) ALL gems linked to CWDT will activate only if their level requirement same or lower than CWDT, otherwise they will act as usual skills. So, as different skills require different character level on same gem level, OP set it to 7/10/9, so that levelcrequirements of Arctic Breath and Summon Ice Holem will not exceed CWDT levelcrequirement.
Oh crap, that's too profound for my newbie brains )) Thx for the answer, anyway. I'll just keep it as the Master says in the 1st post ;-)

(Not required to be 6 link)
More noob question: why not required? Can I have it like 5 linked and 6th is not linked? Or no links (or random links) at all? What gem should I place in non-linked socket?

Well, obviously, more links = better damage. At least 5 link recommended.
