Missed the "For 3.0" update, somehow.
My thoughts: You give up a lot for vaal pact, but that can be amazing for survival in the harder endgame content. Not my expertise, so I won't comment on it much. I've seen crit flame totem chieftain builds with atziri's acuity for instant leech, so I'm confident vaal pact will work. (on life builds at least) You don't go anywhere near blood magic keystone. So either you're depending on a several exalted shield or doing something I wasn't following. Which really makes me think the 3.0 build is good for once you have gear and currency, and want to transition to the hardest content. Leveling before 80ish I think you'd be better off with the original passive tree. Not sure on immolate vs. elemental focus, elemental focus is always up but we don't have numbers for immolate to my knowledge to crunch yet. Righteous fire will trigger immolate (if you are close in), presumably scorching ray as well but I haven't checked that. I was leaning to going for this first, between this build being able to do any mod and most other builds being nerfed hard, my choice is pretty clear. | |

Yeah the 3.0 tree is unrefined. It reserves 100% of Mana and has no way to pay for skills. I should clean it up a bit.
I've been wanting to work vaal pact into the build for a while. The thinking is that incinerate totems require very little in terms of mana cost. You only need to resummon them once every few seconds so blood magic is kind of overkill from the perspective of sustained casting. The biggest weaknesses of the build against end game content tends to be that it doesn't leech fast enough and the secondary layers are on the weak side. Vaal Pact and grace ought to be a big boost to survivability there. It may be that VP isn't worth the pilgrimage and that the original tree is still better in most situations. I haven't tried it yet. |

I've updated the 3.0 section with two PoB variants. One with VP, and another that skips VP in favor of more life and damage.

The non-VP one I'm liking, but a bit sad armor is mostly gone. If we don't seek armor, we can more easily color gear as armor/es pieces, and the new armor/life and es/life prefixes, could have far more life for a few ex of gear than 2.6. Another plus side, there's a couple health/mana clusters taken near witch, and it paths right by MoM.
Essence Worm + Anger and no mana reserved (1500 mana from your PoB with the whole MoM cluster, before we shop for int/mana on gear), with MoM, and possibly a low level clarity? With starter gear should survive a 6k hit, with T1 life rolls + armor/life prefix and some mana on gear over 8k, sounds appealing. And that feels like a low estimate I'll poke around with a build before launch.

Couple quality of life buffs to build in patch notes. Silence is no longer crippling. Anti-silence jewel allows lightning warp/orb of storms against hexfont, but our totems now ignore silence completely. Also with uber lab done totems reflect nearly double previous damage when hit. first,many thanks for the bd introduction, helps a lot.
here are some opinions of mine. for mid-term leveling, Ancestral Warchief of double-hand weapon could be useful since the skill trees are not much different, 4-links can get you to at least to 55-60, especially good for boss kill (tried until Act 8 done). As to the VP build, I wonder if the northeast corner path would be better than the middle path of many dex points.

Good observations about the top path. I think the life in your pastebin link is a little on the low side, but I managed to hit about 10k more dps per totem and 184% increased life with different pathing. I've updated the original post.

Do you have the leech ascendancy node? That makes a big difference to survivability of both you and your totems so if they're not staying alive and you have the taunt node but not the leech, I'd recommend switching to leech and saving the taunt for the last two points.

Not sure why you'd have issues with T2 maps with a tabula and the suggested gems. I got to 90 mostly chaining shaped canyon. Even enraged those bosses don't one-shot the totems, and they close to never die to non-bosses on T10-T11 maps. And that's with level 19 gems. (level 19/20 incinerate, *always* 20 quality incinerate)
I did go MoM, though it is more micromanagement I can take a bigger single hit. 5200+ hp, 1600+ mana, 21000 or so tooltip. Certainly still works as advertised. I notice doubled boss health, but only died in maps to twinned shaped canyon with rippy mods, and when I opened a "revive with onslaught" strongbox on the bosses' corpses and a couple blue packs..... |
